Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Has Hit An All-Time Low On Steam After Nearly 3 Months Since The Last Major Update

Summary
- Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is the franchise's biggest gaming success, but it's had a sharp drop-off since launch.
- Four weeks after release, it had lost 90 percent of its record-breaking player count on Steam.
- Now, six months later, it's had a new all-time low of less than 500 players at once.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has recently had its all-time lowest player count on Steam, which comes off the back of players waiting nearly three months for the next DLC to arrive.
When it was announced that a fourth Budokai Tenkaichi game was finally in the works, Dragon Ball fans went absolutely feral as their biggest wish had finally been granted. Things looked even better before launch with a massive roster, spot-on graphics, and mechanics that built upon the original trilogy's formula.

Sparking Zero’s first DLC pack is pricey, but its new batch of perfectly-realised characters from Super-Hero make it a treat for fans.
Posts 1Then launch finally rolled around in October, and Sparking Zero turned out to be not only one of the biggest gaming successes the franchise has ever seen but also one of the best-reviewed. Since then, though, the game has sadly had quite a massive drop-off, with players turning on it very quickly after release due to a lack of content, updates, and issues with the online mode.

Someone Get It A Senzu Bean
Although Sparking Zero was never meant to be an always-online experience like Xenoverse, Bandai Namco clearly expected more players to stick around after launch since it had a whole season pass planned and room for plenty of content drops. It seems that a lot of the fanbase isn't going to be sticked around for whatever may come, though, as the player count is looking slimmer than ever.
Over on the Sparking Zero subreddit, Redditor Weak-Ticket8330 shared an image of Sparking Zero's player count on SteamDB this week, which shows that fewer than 500 players were playing, a massive drop from its record-breaking peak of more than 122,000 players. That isn't even the lowest point from this week, though.
As ever with SteamDB numbers, it's worth noting that this is just one of the platforms for Sparking Zero, so there are bound to be more
Heading over to SteamDB shows that Sparking Zero actually had 476 concurrent players on April 16, which is a record low for the game and seems to indicate that players are already moving on in lieu of new content. Even with the second DLC pack seemingly planned to release in a few days, it seems like it might not be enough to bring Sparking Zero back around to having a big playerbase again.
