There is no overstatement when we say that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is a formidable game. The game's roster is unbalanced, its AI bosses are cheap and unforgiving, and a plethora of advanced mechanics will make you go "huh." Fortunately, Sparking Zero offers Ability Items, power-ups that level the playing field and flatten the learning curve.

What Are Ability Items?

Ability Items are power-ups you can equip each character with in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. Each item has a unique effect; some have more potent effects than others.

There are 93 total Ability Items spanning seven categories:

  • Red items affect health
  • Green items affect combos and Rush Attacks
  • Orange items affect melee attacks
  • Yellow items affect Ki Blasts and your Ki Gauge
  • Blue items affect Super and Ultimate Blasts
  • Purple items affect an assortment of special skills
  • Rainbow items benefit players in multiple areas

How To Get Ability Items

You can unlock Ability Items by three different means:

  • Complete Bonus Battles
  • Complete Episode Battle Arcs
  • Purchase Ability Items in the Shop
    • New items become available in the shop as your Player Level increases.

One ability item, Broly's Ring, is an exception; you cannot unlock it with the above methods. Instead, you must request it from Special Shenron via the "Come Forth" menu.
