If you're looking for a crash course in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero's gigantic cast, you've come to the right place. We've examined every character's skillset, strengths, and weaknesses to provide you with the best tier list this side of Planet Namek!

Like any fighting game tier list, this guide is constantly evolving. We'll continue adjusting our tier sorting according to game patches and discoveries made in the competitive Sparking Zero community. So, please check back often for updates!

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Character Tier Categories

We organized Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero's characters into five tiers: D, C, B, A, and S, with S being the strongest and D the weakest. While we used Sparking Zero's Destruction Point system as a starting point, we considered several other factors in our rankings.

Ranking Criteria

Our ranking criteria focused on Sparking Zero's most essential mechanics to achieve victory:

  • Movement:
    • The first question we had to ask ourselves was, "Can this character fly?" Flying can make or break a character because it's a gateway to many other skills.
    • Then, we had to consider how fast a character could move to rush down opponents and evade attacks.
  • Special Skills:
    • Special skills are your character's toolbox and can provide anything from attack buffs to explosive wave reflections and even full-health generation.
    • Skill cost and skill gauge capacity also matter since they dictate how long your character must wait to use skills and how many skills they can use simultaneously.
  • Violent Rush:
    • Violent Rush is an infinite combo system activated during Sparking Mode, allowing you to quickly cancel one Rush Combo into another. A completed Violent Rush can deal as much damage as a Super Blast.
    • A Burst Rush is a Violent Rush activated directly from a Z-Burst. You'll see Violent Rush and Burst Rush used interchangeably throughout the guide.
  • Supers and Ultimates:
    • Super and Ultimate Blasts are your character's biggest damage dealers. Your objective in Sparking Zero is to land as many Super/Ultimates as possible to knock out your opponent.
    • Damage was our first consideration regarding Supers and Ultimates. The next consideration was attack range/effectiveness.
    • Ki gauge cost distatic.aayyy.com/topic/dn/'t weigh heavily in this regard unless a Blast's power did not justify its cost.
  • Stats:
    • Each character has five stat points that you can find in the Gallery's Encyclopaedia. They cover the following:
      • HP
      • Attack
      • Ki
      • Combos
      • Special Attack
    • When we wanted to assess a character's overall skills, especially their normals, we examined their stats.
    • Stats are the least valuable consideration in our criteria. Often, a character could have higher stats but lower DP, and vice versa. A character with a highly beneficial skill or attack can move up in tier regardless of overall stats.

We list each character in our tier tables in order of DP. However, they do not indicate that one character is better than another. We're not ranking all 182 characters, just grouping them into tiers. So many characters are similar, especially in the mid-tiers, making it impossible to rank them individually.

S Tier Characters

Close

Our S-Tier characters excel in all, if not most, of our ranking criteria. They're often overpowered, with nearly no nerfs—several of Dragon Ball's most powerful beings and final forms made this list.

Reason

Goku (Super), Ultra Instinct

9

Goku (Super - Ultra Instinct) has more HP than his Ultra Instinct -Sign- form. On top of that, all of his attacks are even stronger, with supers that rival some characters' Ultimates. Two high-tier special skills (including an instant Sparking Mode skill) complete the package.

Broly (Z), Legendary Super Saiyan

9

Legendary Super Saiyan is far and away Broly (Z)'s Ultimate form. He has six skill gauge bars, an instant Sparking Mode skill that adds buffs, and an Ultimate attack that wipes out 2.5 life stocks.

Broly (Super), Super Saiyan (Full Power)

9

Untamed Instinct activates Sparking Mode and adds buffs. Wild Move instantly transports him behind opponents. A suite of powerful Super/Ultimate attacks.

Fused Zamasu, Half-Corrupted

9

Fused Zamasu (Half-Corrupted) has lower stats than normal Fused Zamasu. However, he has more skill gauges (six bars), allowing him to use both his special skills during Sparking Mode. His "Light of Justice" skill gives all his attacks (including combos and supers) extra juice for fifteen seconds.

Jiren, Full Power

9

Jiren (Full Power) has abundant HP, excellent attack power, and an instant Sparking Mode skill ("Strength Is Absolute!") that grants several offensive and defensive boosts for fifteen seconds. His Ultimate attack ("Omegaheat Magnetron") can wipe out 2.5 life stocks when buffed.

Vegito, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan

10

Vegito (SSGSS) is Vegito turned up to 11. He gains a special skill that fully recovers his Ki gauge ("Full-Power Charge"), which will help you spam his impressively damaging supers, including the chargeable "God Kamehameha."

Gogeta (Super), Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan

10

Gogeta (Super - SSGSS) has cheap but effective special skills (including "Instant Transmission") and six skill bars to spend. His Smash Ki Blast is essentially a third super. Lastly, all his Super/Ultimate attacks are heavy hitters.

Gogeta (GT), Super Saiyan 4

10

Gogeta (GT - Super Saiyan 4) has the highest stats of anyone in the game, and it shows. He has an instant Sparking Mode skill called "Power Up to the Very Limit" that boosts his powers further.

Beerus

10

Beerus is one of the few characters (if not the only one) with a "Sleep" skill of good value. While you become vulnerable for three seconds, you receive a full Ki charge and 30 percent HP recovery. His Super/Ultimate attacks are also potent.

Whis

10

Whis has the high-damage Super/Ultimate attacks of other S-tier characters without a buff. While his HP is slightly lower than other S-tiers, he makes up for it with an HP regeneration skill ("Snack Time") that is much safer than other similar skills (i.e., "Sleep").

Gogeta (Super)

Super Buu (Gotenks Absorbed)

7

Super Buu (Gotenks Absorbed) gains an extra skill bar (six in total) and stronger Ki blasts. He maintains his "Regeneration" skill (recovers 40 percent HP), but his Ultimate attack (Super Kamehameha) does not damage himself.

Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed)

7

Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed) has identical stats to his Gotenks form. However, the Gohan version plays slightly differently. He loses his "Regeneration" skill but gains "High-Tension," which grants a fifteen-second attack buff and two bars of ki recovery.

Kid Buu

7

Kid Buu's melee and Super/Ultimate attacks are his strong points. He also has a 33-hit Burst Rush. His HP is standard. Kid Buu has an inexpensive teleportation skill. His health recovery skill is more costly and requires three seconds to take effect.

Cooler, Final Form

7

Cooler (Final Form) upgrades regular Cooler with more skill gauge (five bars) and additional HP. His Supers and Ultimate attack deal more damage, too.

Metal Cooler

7

Metal Cooler has two high-tier special skills (one that can teleport you and another that recovers health). Furthermore, his Super/Ultimate attacks deal heavy damage. He would likely have 8 DP if not for his low skill gauge (four bars).

Fusion Android 13

7

Both of Fusion Android 13's Supers boast intense knockback and his Ultimate attack (SS Deadly Hammer) lives up to its namesake. Plus, he has a higher HP and skill gauge. He does not have a Violent Rush.

Full-Power Bojack

7

Full-Power Bojack swaps out regular Bojack's instant Sparking Mode skill for a significant damage buff that decreases movement. He's a heavy hitter with a powerful Ultimate attack and high HP.

Super Janemba

7

Super Janemba is a rare example of a regular-sized character who's stronger than their giant counterpart. He has a teleportation skill ("Dimension Shift"), an OP Burst Rush, and an exceptional Ultimate attack ("Dimension Sword Attack").

Super Baby 2 (GT)

7

Super Baby 2 (GT) takes all the offensive power of Super Baby 1 and adds an instant Sparking Mode special skill...And his next evolution is Great Ape Baby.

Imagine Great Ape Vegeta with more skill gauge and offensive power. Yup, he's no joke.

Syn Shenron (GT)

7

Kale, Super Saiyan (Berserk)

7

Kale (Super Saiyan - Berserk) has high-tier special skills and a six-bar skill gauge to match. Her high HP and damaging Super and Ultimate attacks sweeten the deal. However, you cannot go back once you transform into Kale (Super Saiyan-Berserk).

Kefla, Super Saiyan

7

Kefla (Super Saiyan) has normal Kefla's high HP and damage capabilities. In Super Saiyan form she gains a stronger Burst Rush. Her special skills are still on the weaker side.

Toppo

7

While most of Toppo's stats are in the upper-middle range, his Ki Blasts have a strong combination of speed and damage. Both his special skills grant various boosts, and one instantly triggers Sparking Mode.

Goku (Super), Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan

8

Goku (Super: SSGSS) has souped up super and Ultimate attacks. His "Kaioken" special skill gives him a fifteen-second attack buff, and his "Instant Transmission" skill makes him challenging to escape.

Goku (Super), Ultra Instinct - Sign-

8

If it weren't for his average HP, Goku (Super - Ultra Instinct -Sign-) would be a 9 DP character. All his attacks deal massive damage, especially his Ultimate attack ("Point-Blank Kamehameha"). He has a Ki recovery and an instant Sparking Mode skill that can run simultaneously.

Goku (GT), Super Saiyan 4

8

Goku (GT: Super Saiyan 4) has a special skill that transports him directly behind opponents. His other special skill gives him a meaty attack buff. His supers deal one life-stock of damage, and his "Dragon Fist" attack surpasses his smaller versions.

Vegeta (Super), Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan

8

Vegeta (Super: SSGSS) has a special skill called "Limits?! I Break Them!" that permanently increases his attack power (including Supers/Ultimates) during battle. His Ultimate attack ("Final God Explosion") wipes out 2.9 life stocks (three life stocks with his permanent buff!).

Vegeta (GT), Super Saiyan 4

8

Vegeta (GT: Super Saiyan 4) boasts a suite of formidable attacks. His special skills, including a deflection attack and an offensive buff, are reliable mid-tier abilities. He would rank higher if it weren't for average HP.

Super Vegito

8

Super Vegito's melee, Ki, and Super/Ultimate attacks improve from his base form. Regarding special skills, he gets a fifteen-second defensive and offensive buff that can run simultaneously.

Super Gogeta (Z)

8

Super Gogeta (Z) has two reliable special skills that increase stun resistance and attack power. His six-bar skill gauge allows him to activate both skills while in Sparking Mode. Plus, he has high HP and high-damage Super/Ultimate attacks!

Gogeta (Super), Super Saiyan

8

Gogeta (Super: Super Saiyan) loses his base form's instant Sparking Mode skill but gains "Instant Transmission." His Super and Ultimate attacks deal more damage. Plus, his extensive Violent Rush exceeds thirty hits.

Gotenks Super Saiyan 3

8

Omega Shenron (GT)

8

Omega Shenron boasts improved HP/skill gauges, high-damage melee attacks, a weighty Smash Ki Blast, and an instant Sparking Mode skill with several boosts. His "Gigantic Blaze" super blast attacks the target's location no matter where they are, making it extremely valuable.

Goku Black, Super Saiyan Rosé

8

Goku Black Super Saiyan Rosé has the "Instant Transmission" skill, an instant Sparking Mode skill ("Audacious Last"), a super-fast Burst Rush, and a powerful Ultimate attack ("Godly Black Kamehameha"). You can use these skills in succession to quickly knock out your opponent.

Fused Zamasu

8

Fused Zamasu's supers are not as strong as other A-tier characters. However, his Ultimate attack ("Lightning of Absolution") reaches the S-tier level. He has an instant Sparking Mode skill and a mostly safer HP regeneration skill.

Hit

8

Hit is a well-rounded, high-tier character. His supers knock out one life stock and his Ultimate attack can knock out two. His teleportation skill ("Time Skip") makes these attacks hard to avoid.

Kefla, Super Saiyan 2

8

Kefla (Super Saiyan 2) reaches her full potential with powerful Super/Ultimate attacks, two high-tier special skills (including an instant Sparking Mode skill that grants attack buffs), more skill gauges, and enhanced combo potential.

Jiren

8

Jiren has great attack stats and noticeably fast Ki Rush Blasts. He has a special skill that recovers 20 percent of his max health but is expensive (4 skill points). Fortunately, his six-bar skill gauge can afford it.

B Tier Characters

Close

Our B-Tier characters are solid all-around, often with a small area that needs improvement. They're average to great but not exceptional. Most of the cast sits in this tier.

Character

DP

Reason

Yajirobe

2

Yajirobe has low-damage Supers and slow movement. On the flip side, he has a skill that instantly triggers Sparking Mode. More importantly, his "Senzu Beans" special skill fully recovers his HP. It costs five Skill Points, so you need to survive long enough to build the meter.

Goku (Z-Mid)

5

Goku (Z-Mid) has a stand-out special skill, called "Give Me Your Energy!," that significantly heightens the impact of his Ultimate attack ("Spirit Bomb"). You can only use this skill three times.

Goku (Z-End)

5

Goku (Z-End)'s Spirit Bomb has damage equal to Goku (Z-Mid)'s buffed Spirit Bomb. He also has two cheap special skills, including "Instant Transmission," which transports him behind opponents.

Goku (Super)

5

Goku (Super) has two high-tier special skills (including an instant Sparking Mode skill) and a six-bar skill gauge. His Ultimate attack ("Super Spirit Bomb") wipes out two life stocks. Goku (Super)'s three transformations are even more vigorous.

Goku (GT)

5

Goku (GT) has a healthy six-bar skill gauge. His "Dragon Fist" super gives him a unique advantage by positioning him above his opponent. He's one of the strongest 'kid' characters (that's not a fusion or Super Saiyan) in the game.

Great Ape Vegeta

5

Great Ape Vegeta boasts enhanced HP and deals a dangerous amount of damage. His only drawbacks are that his Super/Ultimate attacks are easy to read, and he has low combo potential.

Vegeta (Z-Early)

5

Vegeta (Z-Early) has two high-tier special skills (including an instant Sparking Mode skill) but a low skill gauge (four bars). While his supers don't impart enormous damage, his Ultimate attack ("Super Explosive Wave") takes out two life stocks.

Vegeta (Z-End)

5

Vegeta (Z-End) has a five-bar skill gauge, and one skill ("Saiyan Spirit") gives him a strong offensive boost. His two transformations outshine his base form, but this is a good starting point.

Vegeta (Super)

5

Vegeta (Super) has an instant Sparking Mode skill and an "Explosive Wave" skill that his five-bar skill gauge can accommodate. His Super and Ultimate attacks are solid across the board.

Gohan (Future)

5

Gohan (Future) has stronger supers than Gohan (Adult). "Super Destructive Wave" has spectacular reach and damage. Otherwise, the two are similar.

Piccolo (Fused with Kami)

5

Piccolo (Fused with Kami) benefits from having cheap defensive special skills paired with a high-capacity skill gauge (six bars). His Ultimate attack ("Hellzone Grenade") hones in on foes, making it inescapable.

Trunks (Melee)

5

Trunks (Melee) has a mid-tier skill gauge (five bars). His "Explosive Wave" is a helpful defensive skill. His super and Ultimate attacks are solid, but "High-Speed Rush" stands out for its massive blowback.

Future Trunks

5

This version of Trunks has solid stats all around. Future Trunks's "Solar Flare" special skill renders foes defenseless for five seconds. His skill gauge is on the low side with only four bars.

Trunks (Kid), Super Saiyan

5

Trunks (Kid - Super Saiyan) has strong Super/Ultimate attacks ("Victory Cannon" can knock out two life stocks). Plus, he has an instant Sparking Mode special skill. His HP is his weakest point.

Goten, Super Saiyan

5

Goten (Super Saiyan) has much better supers than his normal version. And "Double Kamehameha" is a strong Ultimate attack. His special skills, while cheaper, are low-tier.

Frieza (Z), 1st Form

5

Frieza (Z - 1st Form) has one subpar Super ("Death Beam") and another that's much stronger ("Punishing Rush"). His Ultimate attack ("Death Ball") is substantial. While his HP is average, he has a six-bar skill gauge.

Frieza (Z), 2nd Form

5

Frieza (Z - 2nd Form) has a better attack buff skill with no trade-off (1st Form has a similar skill that reduces Ki recovery). His Supers are more consistent, and his Ultimate attack (HAIL Frieza) flings opponents miles away.

Frieza (Z), 3rd Form

5

Frieza (Z - 3rd Form) is similar to his second form. However, all of his Super/Ultimate attacks have immense knockback.

Cell, 1st Form

5

Cell (1st Form) has a low skill bar (4 gauges), but his cheap special skills accommodate the shortcoming. He has two beam supers that have great distance but are rather narrow.

Cell, 2nd Form

5

Cell (2nd Form) has a better skill bar and more variety in his Supers (one fire Super and one rush Super). His Ultimate attack ("Unforgivable!") is self-destructive but covers a lot of ground.

Android 16

5

Android 16 has both an awesome projectile and rush Super attack. However, low combo potential and a self-destructive Ultimate attack balance out these hefty attacks.

Android 17 (Z)

5

Android 17 (Z) has solid Super attacks and a stellar Ultimate attack ("Sadistic Dance"). But he lacks skill gauge and has middling HP.

Android 18

5

Android 18 has an instant Sparking Mode skill and a solid suite of Super/Ultimate attacks. Her main drawbacks are mid-range HP and a low-capacity skill gauge.

Broly (Z)

5

Broly (Z) has awesome Super/Ultimate attacks and an instant Sparking Mode skill. His mid-tier status is due to his average HP and low skill gauge capacity.

Broly (Super)

5

Broly (Super) has a Ki recovery skill and an instant Sparking Mode skill. But he only has four skill gauge bars and medium HP. His Super/Ultimate attacks pack significant impact.

Android 13

5

Android 13 has a solid skill allowance with mid-tier special skills. His Super attack ("Full-Power Energy Wave") stands out due to its knockback.

Bojack

5

Bojack has strong Super/Ultimate attacks and great special skills (including an instant Sparking Mode skill). His HP is standard, and his skill gauge is low.

Janemba

5

Janemba is a strong zoner. Both his Super blasts and one of his special skills are projectiles. Although he's a giant with great HP, his short-range skills are limited.

Baby Vegeta (GT)

5

Baby Vegeta (GT) has standard stats across the board. However, his Ultimate attack ("Final Flash") is a heavy hitter.

Goku Black

5

Goku Black can boost his Super bursts with his "Finish Sign" special skill. He has fast Rush Ki Blasts and a powerful Ultimate attack ("Black Kamehameha"). However, the true ace up his sleeve is his transformation into Goku Black Super Saiyan Rosé.

Zamasu

5

Zamasu has two high-tier special skills (including "Immortal Body," which restores HP). However, both skills are expensive, and Zamasu only gets five skill bars. While his skill efficiency is lacking, he has awesome Supers and a damaging Ultimate attack with Goku Black.

Cabba

5

Cabba is a well-rounded character with an instant Sparking Mode skill. Two transformations sweeten the deal.

Caulifla

5

Caulifla has cheap defensive special skills with a six-bar skill gauge. Her Supers and Ultimate attack are solid.

Kale

5

Kale has a Ki recovery and an instant Sparking Mode skill. However, her low capacity skill gauge makes it impossible to activate both simultaneously. While her base form is unremarkable, she has two transformations that rev up her power.

Bergamo

5

Bergamo is a high-risk/high-reward character. His instant Sparking Mode skill ("Howl") grants attack buffs at the expense of defense. His other special skill gets triggered after he's attacked.

Ribrianne

5

Ribrianne's Super blasts have great knockback. Her special skills include a paralyzing skill and an instant Sparking Mode skill. She's not the most damaging character, but she holds her own.

Kakunsa

5

Kakunsa is a fast melee fighter whose speed makes up for a lack of damage. Her "Primal Charge" Super blast is notable for being unguardable and sending opponents soaring.

Roasie

5

Roasie has a gauge recovery skill and an instant Sparking Mode skill, but her skill gauge has only four bars. While her damage is low, her Super blasts home in on opponents.

Goku (Z-Mid), Super Saiyan

6

Goku (Z-Mid - Super Saiyan) has an awesome instant Sparking Mode skill ("Now I'm Angry") that increases his attacks and defense. His Ultimate attack ("Angry Kamehameha") is a strong beam attack.

Goku (Z-End), Super Saiyan

6

Goku (Z-End - Super Saiyan) can use his "Saiyan Spirit" special skill to power up his attacks. His Ultimate attack ("Instant Transmission Kamehameha") transports him to his opponent before the blast, making it functional anywhere.

Goku (Z-End), Super Saiyan 2

6

Goku (Z-End - Super Saiyan 2) has two methods of "Instant Transmission": his special skill and his "Instant Transmission Kamehameha" Super. He also has an instant Sparking Mode special skill.

Goku (Super), Super Saiyan

6

Goku (Super - Super Saiyan)'s Super and Ultimate attacks surpass the damage his regular form can deal. He also boasts an attack boost special skill and a lightning-fast Burst Rush.

Goku (GT), Super Saiyan

6

Goku (GT - Super Saiyan) gains an instant Sparking Mode skill while maintaining a hefty six-bar skill gauge. His supers are adequate, but his ultimate attack (Super Explosive Wave) deals mighty damage.

Vegeta (Z-Early), Super Saiyan

6

Vegeta (Z-Early) has a special skill that strengthens his attacks for fifteen seconds. This skill raises his super blast damage significantly. He also has a powerful ultimate attack ("Big Bang Attack"). The trade-off is he loses his instant Sparking Mode skill from his regular form.

Super Vegeta

6

Super Vegeta has an instant Sparking Mode skill that boosts his Super blasts. Using this skill gives him a toolbox of powerful Super blasts that both take out one life stock. His Ultimate attack ("Final Flash") deals massive damage (2.5 life stocks).

Vegeta (Z-End), Super Saiyan

6

Vegeta (Z-End - Super Saiyan) is noticeably more powerful than his base form. His Supers and Ultimates deal more damage before amplifying them with "Saiyan Spirit." Replacing "Afterimage" with "Explosive Wave" is an improvement.

Vegeta (Z-End), Super Saiyan 2

6

Vegeta (Z-End Super Saiyan 2) loses "Saiyan Spirit." However, his Super and Ultimate attacks are plenty strong without the buff. He also has the best Burst Rush of all three Vegeta (Z-End)s.

Vegeta (Super), Super Saiyan

6

Vegeta (Super - Super Saiyan) gets an attack boost skill and an instant Sparking Mode skill. These skills cannot run simultaneously because of a limited five-bar skill gauge (both special skills cost 3 points). His Super and Ultimate attacks have better damage than base Vegeta (Super).

Gohan (Teen), Super Saiyan

6

Gohan (Teen - Super Saiyan) has two strong special kills that his five-bar skill gauge can easily accommodate. He's similar to Gohan (Teen) but with a better Ultimate Attack.

Gohan (Adult), Super Saiyan

6

Gohan (Adult - Super Saiyan) has a Ki recovery skill and plays similarly to his normal version. However, his Ultimate attack, "Bros. Kamahameha," deals two life stocks of damage!

Gohan (Future), Super Saiyan

6

Gohan (Future - Super Saiyan) has two high-tier special skills and a six-bar gauge. Activate "Power Up to the Very Limit" and perform "Fierce Combination" to deal massive damage.

Trunks (Sword), Super Saiyan

6

Trunks (Sword - Super Saiyan) lacks skill gauge, but his enhanced speed and killer Ultimate attack ("Shining Sword Attack") more than make up for it.

Trunks (Melee), Super Saiyan

6

Trunks (Melee) keeps his regular form's "Explosive Wave." His special skill, "Finish Sign," adds a fifteen-second attack buff that amplifies his Supers. His Ultimate attack ("Heat Dome Attack") out-does his regular form's Ultimate.

Super Trunks

6

Super Trunks gains an instant Sparking Mode skill in addition to "Explosive Wave." His Supers are nerfed compared to Trunks (Melee - Super Saiyan), making the two fairly equal.

Future Trunks, Super Saiyan

6

Future Trunks (Super Saiyan) still has a low skill gauge and average HP. However he gains "Power Up to the Very Limit," and his Ultimate attack ("Final Hope Slash") deals heavy damage.

Gotenks

6

Gotenks has high HP and high-damage Super/Ultimate attacks. However, his special skills are lacking. "Afterimage" only dodges a single attack, and "Ta-dah!" grants a defensive boost at the expense of Gotenk's attack.

Frieza (Z), 4th Form

6

Frieza (Z - 4th Form)'s special skills have great synergy. "Your Arrogance Disgusts Me" instantly triggers Sparking Mode, and "Psychokinesis" will paralyze foes so they can't escape. His Ultimate attack ("I'll Destroy This Planet") is nearly unavoidable.

Mecha Frieza

6

Mecha Frieza has a strong Smash Ki Blast that hits his opponent twice. He can also paralyze opponents and buff his Super/Ultimate attacks with special skills. However, a low-capacity skill gauge (four bars) takes him down a peg.

Frieza (Super)

6

Frieza (Super) has a paralyzing special skill ("Psychokinesis") and a fifteen-second attack buff skill ("Power Of Revenge"). Waiting for enough skill gauge to activate "Power Of Revenge" holds him back from reaching A-tier.

Cell, Perfect Form

6

Cell (Perfect Form) stands out from his prior two forms because his Ultimate attack ("Perfect Barrier") is a high-damage explosive wave with extensive reach.

Majin Buu

6

Majin Buu has strong Supers, and his Ultimate attack ("Angry Explosion") covers a lot of ground. His only setback is skill efficiency. He has two strong special skills ("Paralyze Beam" and "Sleep") but only four skill gauge bars.

Majin Buu (Evil)

6

Majin Buu (Evil) has solid Super/Ultimate attacks and a Rush Chain Combo (Rush Chain 3 > Energy Storm) that is as strong as other character's supers. His special skills are cheaper than normal Majin Buu but less impactful.

Super Buu

6

Super Buu's Ultimate attack ("Revenge Death Bomber") is self-destructive but deals close to three life stocks of damage. Fortunately, he can quickly regenerate 40 percent HP with his "Regeneration" skill.

Majuub (GT)

6

Majuub has better skill gauge capacity than Uub. Plus, his Super/Ultimate attacks have plenty of impact. Unlike Uub, he does not have an instant Sparking Mode skill and does not gain buffs while Sparking.

Android 17 (Super)

6

Android 17 has a low skill gauge (only four bars) but gets two high-tier special skills (including an instant Sparking Mode skill with buffs). While his Ultimate attack ("Barrier Explosion") is self-destructive, it doesn't completely wipe out his health.

Dabura

6

Dabura has a five-bar skill gauge, and one of his skills is an unguardable attack that costs one point. His Super and Ultimate attacks all have heavy damage and pushback.

Lord Slug, Giant Form

6

Like Lord Slug, but giant. Heightened HP and a fatal Ultimate attack give this version of Lord Slug a huge leg-up.

Cooler

6

Although Cooler has a low skill gauge (four bars), his special skills are affordable (and include a paralyzing skill). He has strong projectile attacks, and his "Darkness Eye Beam" Super has great reach.

Hirudegarn

6

Hirudegarn doesn't have an instant Sparking Mode like other formidable giant characters (i.e., Great Ape Vegeta). His Ki Blasts are also slow. However, he makes up for these shortcomings with high HP and extensive attack range.

Super Baby 1 (GT)

6

Super Baby 1 (GT) feels like an enhanced version of Baby Vegeta. They both play much the same. But Super Baby 1's attacks deal a tad more damage.

Frost

6

Frost is very similar to Frieza (Super) with the added benefit of an instant Sparking Mode special skill.

Cabba, Super Saiyan

6

Other than losing his instant Sparking Mode skill, Cabba (Super Saiyan) is an improvement from regular Cabba. His Ultimate attack ("Super Galick Cannon") deals severe damage.

Kale, Super Saiyan

6

Kale (Super Saiyan) is a significant upgrade from her base form. She gets two more skill bars (six in total). Plus, her Ultimate attack with Caulifla ("Limit Break Blaster") is OP!

Kefla

6

Kefla has the HP and attack power of a character with 8 DP. Her low-tier special skills are likely what peg her down.

Dyspo

6

Dyspo has a unique special skill ("Super Maximum Light Speed Mode") that increases his movement speed for fifteen seconds. He also has an instant Sparking Mode skill. His Super and Ultimate attacks are not as strong as other B-tiers, but they have significant blowback.

C Tier Characters

Close

We like to think of the C-Tier as our 'Only Human' tier. They're not terrible, but they have at least one significant flaw you must work around to play them effectively. Some of our favorite supporting cast members, like Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha, and Krillen, reside in C-Tier.

Character

DP

Reason

Master Roshi, Max Power

2

Master Roshi (Max Power) boasts greater power but slower movement. Still, his "Max Power Kamehameha" is ferocious!

Frieza Force Soldier

2

Frieza Force Soldier's "Full-Power Charge" (fully recovers Ki) is a useful skill. His other special skill, "Sleep," raises his HP but makes him vulnerable for three seconds. He has big NPC energy.

Goku (Teen)

3

Goku (Teen) can't fly but uses his tail as a propeller (adorable!). Strong defense skills and speed boost him.

Gohan (Kid)

3

Gohan (Kid) has an instant Sparking mode skill and a strong Ultimate. However, his HP is low, and "Energy Blast Barrage" is a low-damage super.

Krillin

3

Krillin excels in attack speed. His Supers hold him back due to low damage.

Yamcha

3

Yamcha has an instant Sparking Mode skill. Otherwise, he is a capable fighter with solid Super/Ultimate attacks.

Cell Jr.

3

Cell Jr. has a low skill gauge and meh supers. But his Burst Rush can go on for 50 hits!

Pan (GT)

3

Pan moves fast and has a 29-hit Burst Rush—however, a four-bar skill gauge and high-cost special skills (Three Skill Points per skill) hold her back.

Raditz

3

Raditz can hold his own with standard HP and attacks. He suffers a similar issue as Pan (high-cost skills with low-capacity skill gauge).

Nappa

3

Nappa has high HP for a low-tier character (4.5 stocks). Plus, his special skills have long effect times. But he lacks a Violent Rush, and one of his supers is too expensive (40,000 Ki).

Zarbon

3

Zarbon has better stats than Super Zarbon, and it shows. His stats are not amazing, but they're consistent. Zarbon's "Bloody Dance" Super has great knockback.

Super Zarbon

3

Super Zarbon has a special skill that recovers two Ki bars. Furthermore, his Ultimate is pretty good.

Dodoria

3

Dodoria has an unguardable Super ("Dodoria Head Ram") with significant knockback. He lacks a Violent Rush.

Cui

3

Cui feels like a better version of the generic Frieza Force Soldier. He has better HP and a strong Ultimate, but his special skills and Supers are subpar.

Recoome

3

Recoome has solid HP and combos. While his Supers are mediocre, his Ultimate (Recoome Fighting Bomber) imparts up to two stocks of damage.

Burter

3

Burter has an instant Sparking Mode skill and a stellar Burst Rush. He suffers from a low skill gauge and middling attack/HP.

Jeice

3

Jeice is like a nerfed Burter. His attacks and HP are adequate, but he doesn't have the high combo potential to boost him up.

Babidi

3

Babidi's stats are unremarkable, but he has a seven-bar skill gauge. Plus, his movement is light and breezy.

Goku (Z-Early)

4

Goku (Z-Early) is a suitable all-rounder with an accommodating six-bar skill gauge. He's good for beginners but lacks the various transformations that make other versions of Goku multi-faceted.

Goku (Mini)

4

Goku (Mini) is an odd character to wield due to his Ki Blasts, which feel more like melee attacks. Plus, they move him forward, which makes them ineffective as a zoning tool. He would likely be a 5 DP character otherwise.

Vegeta (Z-Scouter)

4

Vegeta (Z-Scouter)'s ability to transform into Great Ape Vegeta is a significant benefit. His Ultimate attack ("Dirty Fireworks") is also quite formidable. He only lacks the Super-Saiyan bells and whistles.

Gohan (Teen)

4

Gohan (Teen) has low-cost special skills and Supers (including an instant Ki gauge recovery skill). While his stats are average, he can access two transformations.

Gohan (Adult)

4

Gohan (Adult) has low-cost special skills and Supers (including an instant Ki gauge recovery skill). While his stats are average, he can access three transformations.

Great Saiyaman

4

Great Saiyaman plays similarly to Gohan (Adult) except his special skills are attack buffs (no Ki gauge recovery skills). Justice Bomber is a heavy-hitting Ultimate.

Piccolo

4

Piccolo is a strong all-rounder with an instant Sparking Mode skill and the ability to paralyze opponents. His one weakness is his Ultimate attack, which has a subpar aim.

Nail

4

Nail has solid Super and Ultimate attacks and an instant Sparking Mode special skill. He's a strong all-rounder similar to Goku (Z-Early).

Tien

4

Tien has strong Supers and a special skill ("Solar Flare") that renders foes defenseless. His low-capacity skill gauge and an Ultimate attack that incapacitates him for several seconds hold him back.

Trunks (Sword)

4

Trunks (Sword) has high-tier special skills but a low skill-gauge capacity. Furthermore, his Ultimate ("Lightning Sword Slash") is solid, but his "Burning Storm" Super is weak.

Trunks (Kid)

4

Trunks (Kid) is a solid fighter whose Super attacks have impactful knockback. His HP sets him behind a little.

Goten

4

Goten has two cheap Supers that are unsurprisingly low-damage. However, his "Super Kamehameha" is an impactful Ultimate.

Uub (GT)

4

Uub's HP and skill gauge capacity are mediocre. But, he has an instant Sparking Mode special skill and he gains buffs while in Sparking Mode. His Ultimate attack ("Super Explosive Wave") packs a punch.

Bardock

4

Bardock has a great, albeit expensive, counter special skill. Otherwise, he's very middle-of-the-road.

Captain Ginyu

4

Captain Ginyu can swap bodies with anyone in the game (although he cannot access their skills). Essentially, his tier is only as good as the opponents he's able to swap with.

King Cold

4

King Cold has special skills that are too expensive for his measly four-bar skill gauge. Furthermore, he has no Violent Rush. High-damage Super and Ultimate attacks make up the difference.

Android 19

4

Android 19 would likely have 5 DP if it wasn't for his low-tier special skills. Otherwise, his combos, HP, and Super/Ultimate attacks are standard.

Dr.Gero

4

Dr.Gero has a six-bar skill gauge and strong Super/Ultimate attacks. However, he has no Violent Rush, and his special skills are unremarkable.

Super Garlic Jr.

4

Super Garlic Jr. has strong special skills that can paralyze opponents and recover a portion of his HP. He has high-damage attacks, but one of his Supers lacks reach. Additionally, he can't perform a Violent Rush.

Dr.Wheelo

4

Dr.Wheelo is one of the weaker giant characters in the game. His melee attacks lack range, and his Supers are easy to dodge. However, his Ultimate attack deals plenty of damage.

Turles

4

Turles's "Fruit of the Tree of Might" skill does not stack like in prior games. Still, he has strong Supers, and his Ultimate attack ("Meteor Burst") will send foes flying.

Lord Slug

4

Lord Slug is very average. He'd likely have 5 DP if he had a Violent Rush.

Tapion

4

Tapion has solid defensive skills like "Hero's Flute" and "After Image." In contrast, his skill gauge capacity is low, and his "Brave Slash," while unguardable, imparts low damage.

D Tier Characters

Close

We don't like to use derogatory terms like 'Trash Tier.' So we'll call our D-Tier the 'Challenge Character' tier. These characters are either overall low-skilled, intentionally joke characters, or have a fatal flaw. If you can win a match as these characters, then you're really good at Sparking Zerol.

Character

DP

Reason

Mr.Satan

1

Mr.Satan is akin to "Dan Hibiki" in Street Fighter. His movement is limited, his HP is low, and his special attacks inflict low damage. He's good for a laugh, though.

Videl

2

Videl can use her second special skill to instantly trigger Sparking Mode. Plus, she can fly. But her low attack damage and HP set her behind.

Master Roshi

2

Master Roshi is arguably one of the best D-tier characters. He has strong defensive abilities and can transform into Master Roshi, Max Power. Unfortunately, he cannot fly.

Chiaotzu

2

Chiaotzu has some neat skills, including the ability to paralyze opponents. But his Super blasts are easy to avoid, and his Ultimate inflicts damage on himself.

Saibaman

2

Saibaman has agile movement and a nifty paralyzing skill. Unfortunately, his Ultimate is a self-destructive attack.

Guldo

2

Guldo can paralyze opponents and instantly trigger Sparking Mode. Unfortunately, he has no Violent Rush. His Ultimate is decent, though.

Spopovich

2

Spopovich has good health for a low-tier character. His special skills are lacking, and his Super/Ultimate attacks are mid.
