Cell Max In Versus And Online Matches

Cell Max costs nine DP and is very focused on dealing high damage in bursts. As a giant character, he has the benefit of being immune to all grabs and most Rush special moves, but with the downside of being extremely slow. His main playstyle should be to keep his Ki Gauges full and prioritize using his Blast special moves for damage.

Whilst Cell Max's melee combo potential is near nonexistent against smaller opponents, they fare much better when used against other giant characters.

Explosive Wave costs two Skill Points and creates a shockwave to interrupt an opponent's melee attack combo. This is a very useful tool when struggling against fast-moving smaller foes, though it's best to save your Skill Points for your second skill if possible.

Howl will instantly put Cell Max into Sparking Mode after a short animation. Additionally, all sources of damage output will increase, and he will also receive a defense buff. While the animation is short, you can be interrupted if used from neutral, so be sure to knock your opponent away using athrow or smash attack.

Cell Max has access to both Blast and Melee Special Moves in the forms of Max Cannon and Mighty Fist. Max Cannon consumes three Ki Gauges to charge a powerful energy blast that deals moderate damage on impact. To effectively land Max Cannon, you'll need to launch your opponent using a throw or smash attack.

Mighty Fist throws a close-range punch that deals moderate damage and knocks the opponent away. You should avoid using this move as the cost of four Ki Gauges for such meagre damage would be a waste. You can use it for style points, but make sure to stagger your opponent with a down smash.

Against giant opponents, be sure to use one of the staggering combomoves, such as Gut Punch or Backhand, before attempting a Special Move.

Max Bomb charges a very large and powerful energy ball that deals major damage on impact. Similarly to Cell Max' previous Special Moves, to effectively land the ultimate, you must stagger or launch the opponent to guarantee it. To further increase the damage, make sure to enter Sparking Mode using the Howl skill.

Whilst all of Cell Max's Special Moves can be blocked, they still deal pretty good damage even when blocked.
