Summary

  • The new Dragon Age: The Veilguard release trailer confirms that Morrigan is returning.
  • Interestingly, she is wearing her mother Flemeth's crown, although we don't know why.
  • The last time we saw Morrigan was in Inquisition where she appeared as Empress Celene's occult advisor.

In a new Dragon Age: The Veilgaurd release date trailer, BioWare revealed that Morrigan is returning to the series.

We last saw her in Inquisition in which it's revealed that Morrigan is Empress Celene's occult advisor. She isn't a playable companion, but she will travel to your base in Skyhold and may even bring her son Kieran depending on what decisions you made during Origins.

One fan even pointed out that it looks like she's wearing her mother Flemeth's crown, the shapeshifting Witch of the Wilds who we meet in every game throughout the series. She is an indescribably powerful mage who many believe to be immortal, even able to transform into a high dragon, with legends that tell of her raising armies to invade the lowlands, although Morrigan disputes these tales. Regardless, she is said to have walked the Wilds for hundreds of years, but why Morrigan is now wearing her crown is a mystery.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Release Date

Since the trailer is a release date trailer, it finally gives us a... release date. Except, it already leaked this morning. Sorry, BioWare. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will finally arrive after ten years of waiting on Halloween later this year.

It joins an incredibly stacked month among games like Until Dawn, Silent Hill 2, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Life is Strange: Double Exposure. My wallet hurts just writing that.

There's tons more to look forward to in the meantime. On the week of August 19, we can expect a high-level combat and PC spotlight, followed by a week dedicated to the game's many companions on the week of August 26. Then, just four days later on August 30, the developers are hosting a Q&A on Discord.
