Lucanis is one of your companions in Dragon Age: Veilguard. You rescue him from an underwater prison, and the reason for recruiting him is to use him as a weapon against the ancient and deadly elven gods. What makes Lucanis truly unique is the demon inside him, Spite. Because of this, he tries to stay awake as much as possible and loves drinking coffee.

Taash, the fire-breathing qunari dragon slayer, is a spicy romance option with a deep personal story to tell.
PostsLike with all your other companions, you can flirt with Lucanis, and if you choose, you can pursue a romance with him—though you'll need to say the right things at the right time. This guide covers everything you need to know to make Lucanis your partner.
How To Recruit Lucanis
One of the main quests you can take after the 'Into The Crossroads' quest is 'Sea of Blood'. In this quest, you'll head to Treviso and meet the Crows. You'll then journey to the underwater prison known as the Ossuary to find the famous assassin, The Demon of Vyrantium.
You'll discover that Lucanis, who was believed to be dead for a year, is actually alive. After progressing far enough in the Ossuary and defeating the Venatori, you'll reach the room where Lucanis is imprisoned.
He will appear and join your party after killing the guards. From there, you'll need to complete some of Lucanis' tasks, including killing the Warden, Calivan, to escape the Ossuary.
How To Quickly Boost Your Bond Level With Lucanis
At the beginning, you won’t have many opportunities to flirt with Lucanis, but especially in the second act of the game, you’ll start to flirt with him more. The first thing you should do is check in with Lucanis after every main and side quest to make sure you don't miss his time-sensitive dialogues and complete his companion quests.
If you follow the approval methods provided in this guide, you can start an exclusive romance with him before completing all of his companion quests. Specifically, after his 'Inner Demons' companion quest, you will have the chance to start an exclusive relationship with him, and he will be your partner for the rest of the game.
Especially during quests where you fight Venatori, if you bring Lucanis along, he will approve every time you kill one of them.
After recruiting Davrin and completing the 'A Warden’s Best Friend' quest, you’ll need to make a choice. Two dragons will attack different places. If you want to bond with Lucanis more easily, choose to save his hometown, Treviso. By doing this, your relationship with Lucanis will progress positively, and you’ll be able to start an exclusive relationship with him more easily.
If you choose to save Minrathaus, Lucanis will be absent from your team and the Lighthouse for a while. Additionally, your relationship with Lucanis will progress slower. To make up for this, you should take him on more quests to gain more approval.
Where To Find Lucanis' Gift
CloseAfter receiving the 'Coffee with the Crows' companion quest from Lucanis, you will be free to roam around Treviso during and after completing the quest. Upon arriving in Treviso at Cantori Diamond with Eluvian, you can buy a gift for Lucanis from the merchant there. This gift is the Antivan Tea Set, which is very important for increasing your bond with Lucanis.
Once you purchase the gift, you will get the 'Fit for a Crow' quest. Don’t forget to give it to Lucanis at Lighthouse to complete the quest.
If you don’t choose to save Treviso, the merchant selling this gift will be gone, and you won’t have another chance to give Lucanis a gift.
