Dr DisRespect Opens Up On Twitch Ban, Says It Was "A Tough Time"

Summary
- Dr. DisRespect has opened up about his ban from Twitch, saying it was a "tough time" in his life.
- He reveals that the ban cost him several big sponsorships, including deals with the likes of Nike and Oakley.
- We still don't know why Dr. DisRespect was banned four years ago, and it's unlikely we'll find out any time soon.
It's been a while since Dr. DisRespect was banned from Twitch, and the streaming landscape has shifted dramatically over those four years, with the platform losing high profile talent such as Pokimane and xQc, while its main rivals Kick and YouTube continue to prosper. Twitch would probably kill for another high-profile user like Dr. DisRespect, but there's little chance of him returning as he's described his fallout with the platform as "a tough time" in his life.
In a very rare instance of the creator opening up about his time during the fallout, Dr. DisRespect explained on his latest stream (at around the 3 hour 33 minute mark) that it was rough going, and that he and his team lost out on "a lot of big deals" with massive brands such as Nike and Oakley, which are known for high quality footwear and sunglasses respectively.
He then goes on to explain that he could show off prototypes of Oakley sunglasses that he was working on with the brand before they, presumably, pulled the plug on the deal over the Twitch ban controversy. He also says that during that time, he was "in a spot that I'd never been in before emotionally" and now understands how musicians are able to use their emotions and experience to create better songs.
Dr. DisRespect's Time On Twitch Is Still Shrouded In Mystery
Via: Adobe StockStrangely, we still don't know exactly why Twitch decided to permanently ban Dr. DisRespect, despite the fact that it happened almost four years ago and neither party plans on spilling the details any time soon. Dr. DisRespect claimed back in 2022 that he was told why he was banned before swiftly going on to sue the platform for that reasoning, which is the period of time which the creator talked about in his stream today. The exact reason why still remains a mystery though.
That lawsuit was eventually settled in March 2022, but the platform has had a very hard stance on him coming back ever since. Even during Warzone tournaments, Twitch streamers were banned from including his face or saying his name in any of their streams, while Twitch itself removed streamer ZLaner from a Warzone event for cosplaying as him back in 2021. It's clear the two have little love for each other, with Dr DisRespect implying those behind his ban at Twitch are "purple snakes", so don't go expecting him to announce a return any time soon.
