Doctor Who MTG Secret Lair Reveals The Meep And The Fifteenth Doctor

The final two cards in the Magic: The Gathering's third and final Doctor Who crossover Secret Lair have been revealed. Joining the rest of the cards, we have The Meep, and, of course, the freshly bigenerated Fifteenth Doctor.
This comes after Fifteen's reveal in Doctor Who last night, marking actor Ncuti Gatwa's introduction to the series. Now, it's confirmed that his likeness will appear in this MTG series, alongside the first villain of the recent Doctor Who specials, The Meep.
The cards can be spotted in a currently unlisted video on the Magic: The Gathering YouTube channel. They're part of a collaboration with MTG to mark the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who, with the cards referencing the characters and events in the three-episode special that concluded last night.
The rest of the cards in the anniversary event crossover have already been revealed, as our tabletop editor, Joe Parlock, reported earlier this week. The first three cards we got were the Fourteenth Doctor (meaning there's now two different David Tennant cards you can run as a commander); Rose Noble, Donna Noble's daughter; and the Celestial Toymaker, the villain from last night's finale.
The Doctor Who: Regeneration drop is set to go on sale tomorrow. It joins the many other big-name MTG crossovers we've seen recently as part of Universes Beyond, such as Tomb Raider and Jurassic World. Many, many more are planned with properties including Fallout, Assassin's Creed, and Marvel.
Some fans believe that there are simply too many crossovers and that Magic should focus on expanding its own lore. This recently prompted a response from head MTG designer, Mark Rosewater.
"If you asked me ten years ago, as many people actually did, I wouldn’t have predicted Universes Beyond," says Rosewater. "But now that I’m knee-deep in it, and I’ve seen a lot of data based on the ones we’ve released, I’m a convert. I believe it is something that will bring lots of happiness to Magic players. For example, I was in a playtest for a Marvel set the other day and it was one of the most fun playtests I’ve had in years."
So, Universes Beyond isn't stopping anytime soon. We already know that more crossovers are planned up until 2025, so it's certainly part of MTG's long-term strategy. And given how much attention some of these runs have got - looking at you, The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth - it probably won't stop there.
