Dispatch Switch Port's Infamous Censorship Has Mostly Been Removed, But "Hard Requirements From Nintendo" Still Remain
Dispatch's infamously censored Switch port has been mostly fixed thanks to a free "HR Violations" DLC pack, although AdHoc warns that some "hard requirements from Nintendo" are still present.
Dispatch was one of 2025's biggest surprises, and a true Game of the Year contender in a year that was packed with them. That is, unless you played the Nintendo Switch port, which lazily censored tons of the game with obvious black bars that often didn't hide most of what they were meant to.
Censorship is already a heated issue when it comes to video games, but it was worse with Dispatch since many accused it of being false advertising and not being fully explained. AdHoc has made some updates to the censorship over the months, but it's now basically removed everything that it can under Nintendo's watch through a free DLC pack.
Dispatch's Switch Port Is Now As Uncensored As It's Ever Going To Get
You Still Won't Be Able To See Toxic's Junk, Though
Out of the blue, AdHoc has released a free "HR Violations" DLC pack for Dispatch on all consoles that adds new effects and visuals for the game's censorship. Of course, this is most important for the Switch version of the game that's censored by default, but the new options (including humorous styles like jorts that go over Toxic's junk) can be applied to all consoles.

Adhoc Games evolves upon the Telltale formula in some incredibly ways with Dispatch.
Posts 1 By Jade KingWhile most of the game's censorship on Switch can now be overriden with the DLC, AdHoc warns that some "hard requirements from Nintendo" remain in the game. That means genitalia is still obscured, and Invisigal's audio during her Episode 4 dream sequence is still muted. Japan will remain fully uncensored, with no option for the comedy options.
In an interview with IGN, AdHoc also explained what happened with Dispatch's censorship, noting that it was surprised to find out how much censoring the game would require in all regions. While running out of time and money, the team decided to use a single Switch build that "complied with Nintendo's strictest regional rating", which meant being far more censored than anyone expected.
But you stuck with us. And the good news is that the success you all brought Dispatch gave us the opportunity to make this right, so we invested development time into creating the Switch version you all should have gotten in the first place. - AdHoc
AdHoc also acknowledged the false marketing claims, admitting that it didn't make the censorship clear enough that "the version you were buying was materially different" from other versions of the game. For that, the team is "truly sorry", which is why it's invested the time into developing a version that's as close as it can be to the other releases.
