Destiny: Rising has several systems and mechanics for a mobile game. While it has a proper tutorial explaining each little thing as you make progress in the main campaign, everything can get quite confusing fast with all the activities, currencies, and items available.

One of the key aspects that might not be so clear from the beginning is the level system. Instead of just copying the systems of Destiny 1 and 2, there's a mix of a well-known mechanic with something unique to this game. So let's check this guide and learn how to level up in Destiny: Rising.

How To Level Up

Basically, there are two things that you want to level up to make your characters stronger: Team Level and Power Level. The former is unique to Destiny: Rising, and the latter will be more familiar if you have played the previous titles in the series.

Team Level

In Destiny: Rising, you don't level up a single character: you increase the level of a group of characters. As in any gacha game, you'll unlock characters by pulling banners. The sweet detail here is that any character you earn will already balance their overall level with your Team Level.

Team Level is basically your account level, and each character you have will receive an attribute bonus to these stats: Power, Base Health, Base Shield, Base Defense, and Base Skill Strength.

You'll also unlock certain enhancements and features when you reach certain tiers, like Team Level 40, 60, and 70. For example, Level 46 unlocks new Activities, while Level 66 gives you new ways of enhancements for your artifacts.

To level up your Team Level, you need to earn Team XP. You earn these experience points mostly by completing Primary Quests, so focusing on the main campaign should be your priority.

However, other modes and features also give you Team XP. For example, completing Adventures such as Haven Ops. You can also explore Jiangshi Metro (finding collectables, taking photos of points of interest, finding Golden Age Legacy Points, and everything else listed in the Jiangshi Metro menu), complete Bounties, and participate in the Gauntlet: Onslaught and Legendary Weekly Campaign.

The Team Level cap changes after a few days, but at the time of writing these lines, it's 79.

Power Level

Power Level, on the other hand, is specific to each character you have. This will indicate how strong they are as individuals and give you an indicator of how good they will perform in missions.

To level a character's Power Level, you need to equip better gear (either by looting better weapons or upgrading them with materials), improve their Relic Abilities, and their Artifacts.

There's another system that you can level up, and it's Reputation. For a complete deep dive on it, please visit our specific guide.
