Destiny: Rising has made waves in the mobile gaming scene since its release. This game blends the MMO and loot aspects of Destiny with the progression systems you'd find in a traditional gacha title. It's a combination that works surprisingly well and translates well onto gamepad and emulators.
Considering the complexity of Destiny 2 and gacha titles, it's no surprise that Destiny: Rising is a fairly dense title. Hundreds of upgrade materials, nested menus, and dozens of activities just scratch the surface of this game's learning curve. Fortunately, we have some tips that should help you get your bearings in this latest entry in the Destiny franchise.
Try Different Input Devices
Destiny: Rising has native support for touchscreens, gamepad controllers, and even M&K. If you play Destiny on a console, it's a good idea to give this game a try on a controller. It's significantly more intuitive than a touchscreen, especially if you're playing this game on a small display device like a phone.
Mouse and keyboard is also a great input option if you're playing this game through an emulator on your PC. The game will automatically detect your input and adjust the HUD to be significantly smaller, making the game feel closer to Destiny 2 than a mobile game. It's not quite as responsive as Bungie's titles, but playing this game on another input device makes aiming and using abilities significantly easier.
Learn How Upgrade Materials Work
Dozens of upgrade materials are present in Destiny: Rising, each with an invaluable role in account progression. You'll be slowly introduced to each material and upgrade system as you progress through the story. But if you forgot about a particular material or skipped a tutorial, here's a Cliffnotes version of what each material does.

Pay Attention To Artifacts
Every character can use four Artifacts, powerful passive effects that come with randomized stat modifiers. These are commonplace in gacha titles, but in Destiny: Rising's case, they're surprisingly easy to farm. These Artifacts range from boosting your weapon damage to providing damage resistance while near enemies. Needless to say, they're incredibly important for pushing the game's hardest content.
Singularity activities award Artifacts for your account. Each clear of Order, Chaos, or The Expanse will award Artifacts that can be equipped on any of your characters. The Chaos variant allows you to target-farm certain Artifacts if you're missing one that's critical to your build. Artifact drops are common, so it shouldn't take long to build a robust collection for your account.
Expand Your Arsenal
While Destiny: Rising is a gacha game first, it still shares DNA with Destiny 2. Weapons in this game are incredibly important, as they serve as your main source of damage in endgame content. Keep any weapons you find with good perk combinations—the game will typically give recommendations for ideal perk combinations on weapons that drop.
You can check the weapon archive to preview perk pools.
Exotic weapons are absurdly powerful in this game and worth using on almost every character, although beware that you may only have one Exotic equipped on your character. Some good picks include Huckleberry for SMG characters, Crimson for Attal, and Mahamayuri for Ning Fei.
Join A Pack
Packs function as clans in Destiny: Rising. Unlike Destiny 2, a clan in this game is far more than just a collection of weekly bounties. Packs in this game have access to a clan base of operations, weekly quests, and unique rewards. It's currently the only free source of Black Market Tokens outside of selling items, so it's worth joining one regardless.
Level Three Different Characters
Gacha titles encourage you to have a large roster of characters to overcome various activity modifiers, and Destiny: Rising is no different. Most bounties in this game will encourage you to have at least three characters you've heavily invested in. When upgrading weapons and Artifacts, focus on items that benefit your three favorite characters, especially if they can cover different weapon archetypes and elements.
If you're starting out, we suggest upgrading Wolf, Kabr, and the first Mythic character you get—typically Tan-2, Jolder, or Ning Fei. Wolf is required to finish the campaign, so upgrading them will make the early and midgame experiences much smoother. Kabr might be a boring character, but his barricade and high HP make him the perfect character for group content and PvP.
Your third character should be someone you enjoy playing. Once you start expanding your roster in the endgame, feel free to swap Wolf and Kabr out for other characters you like.
