Destiny 2: Beyond Light introduced the Stasis damage type to the franchise. This manifestation of the Darkness slows and freezes targets in solid ice, providing unprecedented levels of crowd control. While Stasis weapons can't freeze or shatter targets on their own, Stasis-exclusive perks can.

10 Cold Comfort
How to obtain: Ghosts of the Deep dungeon.
Cold Comfort is a powerhouse of a Rocket Launcher and is easily the strongest Stasis Rocket Launcher in Destiny 2. Found in the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon, Cold Comfort is an Aggressive Frame Rocket Launcher that features the incredible Restorative Light origin trait, allowing this weapon to automatically reload itself the next time your magazine empties. This only triggers if you revive someone or perform a finisher before this condition occurs.
That origin trait becomes incredibly strong when paired with Envious Assassin in the first trait column, allowing Cold Comfort to load three rockets in the tube. Fire off an entire salvo of rockets, then instantly reload your magazine with a fourth shot. This weapon can fire four back-to-back rockets without Bipod, giving this weapon one of the highest DPS values out of any Rocket Launcher.
You can further buff this with Bait and Switch or Explosive Light, the former dealing far more damage in boss fights. Explosive Light is great if you want to bump the weapon's blast radius to clear majors in GM Nightfalls or Master Lost Sectors. For boss DPS, this weapon is absurdly strong. For clearing general PvE content, Cold Comfort won't let you down. Calling this weapon powerful would be an understatement.
Recommended Traits
- Column One: Envious Assassin, Impulse Amplifier
- Column Two: Bait and Switch, Explosive Light
9 Deliverance
How to obtain: Vow of the Disciple raid (Acquisition and Exhibition encounters).
Deliverance is the first Stasis Fusion Rifle to grace the Destiny 2 sandbox, and it's arguably one of the best Fusions in the game. The weapon's Precision Frame makes it a breeze to hit targets from a distance, making it a great PvP Fusion. For PvE, you have some amazing perks to choose from.

Harness the explosive energy of Solar with Solar 3.0's Aspects and Fragments system.
PostsDemolitionist rolls in the first column, allowing you to recharge your grenade with five kills. Pair this with Successful Warm-Up for a fast-firing Fusion, or use Chill Clip instead to constantly slow and freeze your enemies. Chill Clip synergizes with Stasis as well, spawning Stasis Shards if you're using the correct Aspects. If spamming abilities isn't your thing, you can get Corned and Successful Warm-Up to make this a Rapid-Fire Fusion. If you love Fusions at all, try to farm or outright craft a Deliverance.
Recommended Traits
- Column One: Demolitionist
- Column Two: Successful Warm-Up, Chill Clip
8 Eyasluna
How to obtain: Grasp of Avarice dungeon (Final encounter).
As with most Grasp of Avarice weapons, Eyasluna is a reprised version of a Destiny classic. It shares the same model and name as its original counterpart, but that's where the similarities end. Eyasluna is now a Stasis weapon that lends itself more toward PvE content.
Unrelenting and Headstone is the best roll for this gun in PvE, creating a Stasis crystal on precision kills that can shatter. Shattering this crystal will deal massive damage and heal you for every kill. It's not a bad weapon in PvP—featuring a great stat package and the ability to use Rangefinder—but falls short of Palindrome and Fatebringer. But if you're looking for a great PvE Stasis weapon, Eyasluna should be on your radar.
Recommended Traits
- Column One: Unrelenting
- Column Two: Headstone
7 Lost Signal
How to obtain: Episode: Echoes.
Lost Signal is the first Area Denial GL to grace the sandbox, firing a salvo of explosive projectiles that linger for a short duration. It's effectively a Legendary version of Witherhoard with random perks. With Auto-Loading Holster and Vorpal Weapon, this effectively becomes Witherhoard in every regard. Fire a salvo, swap to another weapon to resume damage, swap back to Lost Signal, and repeat.
Recommended Traits
- Column One: Unrelenting
- Column Two: Headstone
6 Critical Anomaly
How to obtain: Salvation's Edge raid.
Critical Anomaly is the first hitscan weapon to get Chill Clip in the first column, allowing you to freeze targets and stun Champions from any distance. Stagger Overloads, shatter Unstoppables, or outright freeze Barrier Champions all with this single weapon. And if that wasn't enough, Critical Anomaly is a solid DPS weapon as well, capable of rolling with Rewind Rounds and Bait and Switch. As far as Stasis Snipers go, this is one of the best.
Recommended Traits
- Column One: Chill Clip, Rewind Rounds
- Column Two: Chaos Reshaped, Bait and Switch
5 Conditional Finality
How to obtain: Root of Nightmares raid.
The Root of Nightmares raid Exotic is truly a powerhouse for Stasis and Solar users alike. Conditional Finality is a double-barreled shotgun that fires Stasis and Solar pellets, alternating with each shot. Landing mostly Stasis pellets will freeze the target, while landing most Solar pellets will trigger an Ignition.
For PvE, this weapon is devastating with the right build. The Stasis shot synergizes with subclass Fragments like Whisper of Shards and Whisper of Hedrons, and it can easily stun Unstoppable Champions. For PvP, this gun can easily shut down every Super in the game, even Titans inside a Ward of Dawn bubble. If you're able to raid, Conditional Finality is worth farming for.
4 Ager's Scepter
How to obtain: Purchased from the Exotic Kiosk in the Tower.
Ager's Scepter is the ultimate Special weapon for mobbing. This Exotic Trace Rifle fires a beam of Stasis energy that, on kill, releases a wave of slowing energy. Most PvE enemies freeze when impacted by this wave, allowing you to shatter everyone with ease.
The Exotic Catalyst truly makes Ager's Scepter a monster. Will Given Form gives this weapon an 80% damage buff, overflows the magazine, and causes your Stasis beam to inflict slow onto targets. In other words, this gun constantly shatters targets and deals substantially more damage. It does cost your Super energy, but this is more than worth it if you're playing a Stasis subclass. Throw on a few Stasis Fragments, and you have one of the strongest add-clearing Exotics in Destiny 2.
3 VS Chill Inhibitor
How to obtain: Vesper's Host dungeon.
VS Chill Inhibitor is currently the best Heavy GL in the game. It's part of the best DPS archetype, has arguably the best magazine perk through Envious Assassin, and has Bait and Switch for a constant 30% damage buff during DPS phases. So long as you prep your Envious Assassin stacks beforehand, this weapon will put out more damage than virtually every other Heavy weapon in the game.
Recommended Traits
- Column One: Envious Assassin
- Column Two: Bait and Switch
2 Riptide
How to obtain: Crucible matches and Engrams.
Riptide is the best Stasis Fusion Rifle in Destiny 2. This Rapid-Fire Fusion Rifle can dish out some absurd damage with Feeding Frenzy and Golden Tricorn, melting majors with ease. But the real value of Riptide comes from its sheer utility. Auto-Loading Holster and Chill Clip turns Riptide into a better Blinding Grenade Launcher, disabling targets and stunning Overload and Unstoppable Champions. If you can find a way to proc Radiant, Riptide is capable of countering all Champion types at once. From utility to damage, Riptide has it all.
Recommended Traits
- Column One: Auto-Loading Holster, Feeding Frenzy, Steady Hands
- Column Two: Chill Clip, Golden Tricorn, Successful Warm-Up
1 Tinasha's Mastery
How to obtain: Iron Banner matches and Engrams.
As far as Chill Clip weapons go, there's nothing that tops Tinasha's Mastery. Available from Iron Banner, this is the first Rocket Sidearm to roll with Chill Clip in the second column, inflicting x40 Slow per impact. Hitting the same enemy three times will outright freeze them, allowing you to counter all Champion types with ease.
The only other issue with Rocket Pistols is their limited ammo reserves, but Tinasha's has an answer for that as well: Air Trigger. This is a variant of Field Prep that works while airborne, increasing your ammo reserves while giving you a hefty reload speed bonus while in the air. Pair both perks together, and you have the ultimate Special weapon for PvE content.
Recommended Traits
- Column One: Air Trigger
- Column Two: Chill Clip
