Destiny 2: 10 Best Exotic Weapons For Grandmaster Nightfalls

Destiny 2 features a multitude of exotic weapons to help combat the hardest enemies, particularly in Grandmaster Nightfalls. This endgame, three-person activity will test your skills and your loadout selection as you will not be able to change your gear during a Nightfall.

Certain exotic weapons are perfectly suited for Grandmaster-level Nightfalls, particularly those with intrinsic Champion Stunning abilities. These traits allow an exotic weapon to stun one of the three champion types (Overload, Barrier, or Unstoppable) regardless of the current season's champion mods. These exotics will prove incredibly valuable on a consistent basis.
10 Conditional Finality
- Split Decision: Dual barrels split into Stasis and Solar Damage.
- Paracausal Pellets: Landing nearly all Stasis pellets will freeze targets; landing nearly all Solar pellets will ignite targets.
It may not mention its effectiveness against Champions explicitly, but Bungie added inherent champion stunning when you freeze, ignite, or trigger any other of the subclass-specific verbs.
In Conditional Finality's case, Unstoppable Champions won't stand a chance against either pellet in this Shotgun, as both ignitions and shattering frozen targets will trigger Unstoppable.
This shotgun's unique elemental pellets stun and damage champions effectively, presenting an excellent choice for those favoring close-range play styles. However, keep in mind that it's extremely difficult to play close quarters during Grandmaster Nighftalls, so choose wisely.
9 Collective Obligation
- Void Leech: Leeches Void debuffs when damaging targets that are suppressed, wakened, or volatile. Once charged, you can swap firing modes by holding reload. In the alternate mode, damage from this weapon applies the same Void debuffs that were leeched.
- Umbral Sustenance: This weapon's magazine is automatically reloaded when you gain devour, a Void overshield, or become invisible.
Collective Obligation is a Void user's dream, offering a perfect foil to spread your debuffs to targets from a distance.
While it is limited to Void and requires you to build around debuffing to be effective, Collective Obligation is an exceptionally useful tool for this play style. Combined with Void-based exotic armor, this Pulse Rifle excels at maintaining control over rooms full of minor enemies and helps maintain your shields, healing, or invisibility.
8 Arbalest
- Compounding Force: Fires slugs that cause massive damage to combatant shields. Strong against Barrier Champions.
- Disruption Break: Breaking an enemy's shield with this weapon makes them more vulnerable to Kinetic damage for a brief period.
Despite its age, Arbalest still stands its ground among some of the best champion-stunning weapons in Destiny 2.
This powerful Linear Fusion Rifle (LFR) allows you to dispatch an enemy shield with one shot, regardless of its element. Doing so will activate Disruption Break, allowing you and your teammates to inflict increased Kinetic damage.
Given that Arbalest itself is Kinetic, Disruption Break improves damage against Champions in addition to stunning them.
Arbalest's damage was nerfed, so it no longer decimates Champions solo like it once did, but still stuns them in an instant.
7 Le Monarque
- Poison Arrows: Arrows fired quickly after a full draw become poison arrows. Precision hits with poison arrows stun the combatant and spread poison to nearby ones. Strong against Overload Champions.
Le Monarque's name is fitting, given that it is one of the best bows in Destiny 2 and an exceptional overload weapon. Not only does this bow allow you to stun Overload Champions with a single poison arrow, but it also clears entire groups of minor enemies in seconds.

Its stunning capability allows you to stagger strong enemies with each precision hit, keeping every type of foe under your thumb. Champions, minors, and majors alike can all be damaged and stunned effectively by Le Monarque.
It may take some practice to understand the window of success for poison arrows, but the timing is forgiving.
6 Thunderlord
- Reign Havoc: Final blows with this weapon generate stunning lightning strikes from above. Strong against Overload Champions.
A returning favorite, Thunderlord has aged like a fine wine, especially given the buffs over time to Machine Guns.
Thunderlord's powerful lightning strike improves its damage dramatically, making it a fantastic DPS weapon. However, Thunderlord's greatest strength might be its Overload stunning, as it locks the target in place.
Accuracy is necessary to activate the thunder strikes, so a stationary target will be simple to defeat. The effect is equally effective against lesser enemies, improving Thunderlord's utility across various sections of a GM.
5 Leviathan's Breath
- Big-Game Hunter: Fires a massive, heavy bolt that stuns unshielded combatants. Strong against Unstoppable Champions.
- Leviathan's Sigh: When fully drawn, the bolt creates a large concussive blast that knocks combatants back.
This powerful heavy Void bow is one of the top dogs among GM weapons largely due to its immense damage capabilities.
The ability to stun Unstoppable Champions is a fantastic quality but almost pales in comparison to the amount of damage this bow dishes out. The initial draw time is very slow, but hitting a precision shot will accelerate your Draw Time if you have the catalyst.
Aside from its prowess against the toughest foes, Leviathan's Sigh will help you to make quick work of major enemies by damaging, then launching them with the concussive blast.
4 Wish-Ender
- Queen's Wrath: While aiming down sights with a fully-drawn Bow, combatants behind walls are highlighted and arrows pierce shields. Strong against Barrier Champions.
- Broadhead: Piercing arrowhead that damages the target on entry and exit. One shot can over-penetrate multiple targets.
Wish-Ender claims its rightful place as the best Anti-Barrier exotic weapon in Destiny 2. Don't let the Draw Time fool you, as this wonderful bow combines the barrier-breaking ability of Arbalest with excellent secondary effects.
Aside from one-shotting Barrier Champion shields, Wish-Ender allows you to see targets through walls, a bonus that provides vital information when you're pinned down behind cover.
Broadhead is an excellent secondary perk that boosts damage and can sometimes be used in unintentional ways to bypass boss shields. Even when used as intended, the extra damage these arrows cause will surprise you.
3 Divinity
- Judgment: Sustained damage with this weapon envelops the target in a field that weakens and stuns them. Strong against Overload Champions.
- Penance: Targets under the effects of Judgment long enough are struck with a burst of damage.
Simply put, there are few weapons that even begin to compare with Divinity, as this Trace Rifle might just be the ultimate support weapon. Maintaining sustained fire is as simple as pointing and shooting with Divinity's excellent Stability.

Judgment will create a bubble that makes every shot from your teammates register as a precision hit. Improving your team's damage is a major part of what makes Divinity special, but it even boasts instant Overload Champion stunning capabilities.
A brief pull of the trigger with Divinity will stun an Overload Champion. Whenever there's a strong enemy that needs to be stunned or defeated, there's no better choice than Divinity.
2 Ager's Scepter
- Ager's Call: Final blows with this weapon generate a slowing burst around the defeated target.
- Rega's Refrain: Stasis final blows transfer ammo to this weapon's magazine from reserves.
Despite the greatness of Divinity, Ager's Scepter edges it out for the best Trace Rifle in GM Nightfall content.
Ager's Call is a bona fide burst of slowing on-demand as kills should come fairly easily with this weapon, particularly against minor adversaries. Defeating red-bar enemies is great, as ad control will always be appreciated, but it doesn't stop there.
The slowing bursts will quickly stack, freezing nearby targets like Champions as you dispatch the minors. Ager's ability to simultaneously clear minors and stun Unstoppable Champions gives it a clear edge.
1 Gjallarhorn
- Wolfpack Rounds: Rounds fired split into tracking cluster missiles upon detonation.
- Pack Hunter: Gain increased handling and reload speed while standing near allies. Firing this weapon also grants Wolfpack Rounds to nearby allies wielding non-Exotic Rocket Launchers.
Perhaps the best rocket launcher in Destiny history, Gjallarhorn returns in Destiny 2 as the best support Rocket Launcher, and the best exotic for Grandmaster Nightfalls.
Much like Divinity, Gjallarhorn isn't as concerned with doing damage itself as it is with increasing your teammate's damage with Pack Hunter. Simply fire the rocket while near your allies and watch the damage pile up as Wolfpack Rounds decimate your enemies.
Neither groups of minors nor the largest bosses will survive the howl of the wolves.
