10 Things We Want To See in The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Summary
- The Dead Rising remaster aims to introduce the series to a new generation with improved graphics and features.
- The remaster should preserve the camera, zombie mechanics, and time limit from the original game.
- An updated story, enhanced survivor AI, and new items would be perfect for the remaster.
Dead Rising is finally getting a remaster and, from the looks of it, it’s getting a major overhaul graphically. This is the perfect chance to introduce the series to a whole new generation in the same vein as the Resident Evil Remakes. However, can this latest installment live up to the original experience, or will it be a watered-down version?

PostsDead Rising is known for its punishing time-based system, hoards of zombies, and unique boss battles that don’t rely on fighting special infected. Though we won’t be seeing the return of TJ Rotolo as Frank West, here are ten things we want to see in the Dead Rising Deluxe Remake.
10 The Camera Feature
Fantastic!
You can’t match the original Dead Rising experience without the camera. This feature is used as a way to earn additional XP and fulfill the requirements of certain scoops and boss encounters. There are also hidden spots all around the mall that act as photo opportunities.
Dead Rising 4 utilized the camera in numerous ways not seen in the original. It would be interesting to see the camera features overhauled to include movement while taking pictures or even different filters.
9 Classic Zombie Mechanics
Chop Till You Drop
One of the biggest downgrades in the last Dead Rising game is the lack of impact weapons had when making contact with the undead. They just felt like enemies to hack and slash. Dead Rising is known for its hoards, but it also gave each zombie sufficient weight to feel like a body.
Zombies can swarm you easily if you aren’t careful and while some weapons are great for knocking one down, it isn’t always the solution. Sometimes you need to play it safe and that feeling is one that needs to come back.
8 The Signature Time Limit
Three Days To Die
The three-day time limit before the helicopter arrives in the original Dead Rising is one of the most unique game mechanics. Translating to around six hours of real-world time, the time limit dictates when the lights go out, which enemies start spawning, and when scoops will be active.

PostsWithout the time limit, the pressure instantly goes away. While lowering the bar of entry might seem like a good idea on paper, its unique experiences like these that made the original game so memorable.
7 Infinity Mode
Xbox’s Hardest Achievement
Infinity Mode is one of the most memorable and notorious modes in the original Dead Rising. Food does not spawn back, and the clock keeps rolling as new enemies appear and disappear. Kill them quickly to get their loot.
The original game also has a monstrous achievement, Seven-Day Survivor, that required you to survive 14 hours in the game with no saves and no continues. This led to many red rings of death as survivalists chased after the legendary laser sword and Mega Man Blaster.
6 The Original Soundtrack
Fly Routine And Gone Guru
Music licensing is a nightmare and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster might run into a snag along the way. While many of the later titles had boss battle themes composed by Celldweller, the original game had a more alternative rock feel to it.
Each boss in the game has their own unique theme in the form of a real-life song that complements their personalities and backgrounds. From Drea to Lifeseeker and many more, these composers made Dead Rising’s ending credits and boss fights unforgettable.
5 Better Survivor AI
Follow Me, Come On!
While it is easy to praise Dead Rising, one problem with the original game is the horrid survivor AI. You can escort survivors back to the safe room for some massive boosts in XP. However, this is easier said than done when survivors bump into everything and get stuck for no good reason.

Posts 1Survivor AI was eventually fixed in the sequels but continues to plague the original games. With a Dead Rising remaster, there is a chance to finally make them at least competent enough to follow you back correctly.
4 Different Difficulty Levels
Best Of Both Worlds
You can have your cake and eat it too. Dead Rising 3 showed that a time-based system can co-exist with different difficulty levels. For the best chances at taking the world by storm, the Dead Rising remaster needs to give players a chance to change the difficulty by extending or shortening the clock.
Dead Rising 3 implemented this by having each difficulty affect how long a day lasts in real-time or giving you a chance to play story mode, letting them go at your own pace.
3 An Updated Story And Bosses
Edit Don’t Remove
It is safe to say that some aspects of Dead Rising might not have aged well. However, they are still essential for delivering the most authentic Dead Rising experience. Seeing as Resident Evil 2 Remake did wonders towards its own storytelling, it’s time to work that magic once more.
Some bosses, like Kent, don’t tell you what kind of photo they want despite it being a requirement for his day two mission. Meanwhile, bosses like Jo and how they die are a little bit insensitive in today’s climate and could use a slight update.
2 New Shops And Weapons
Mall Expansions
The North Plaza is one of the most bare-bones parts of the mall. This is because the location is under renovation during the events of the first game. There are also some stores that are clones of each other in everything but name.

Zombies being in video games is almost as old as the gaming industry itself, and here we look at the best games with the living dead in them.
PostsWith a remaster, it is possible to add new stores that contain items and weapons that weren’t in the original but could be added to the game through this method. North Plaza can also have a few extra shops while keeping the overall under-construction appearance.
1 Frank’s Original Personality
He’s Covered Wars
One of the most important aspects of Frank West as a character is his personality. He is not necessarily a bad guy, but his motivations are somewhat selfish and detached. His signature line of covering wars may be true, but the events of Dead Rising force Frank to become part of the story.
Dead Rising 4 misunderstood the characterization of Frank, turning him more into a wise-cracking man who doesn’t take anything seriously. Seeing him back in form during the remaster would mean the compelling version of Frank is back.
