PostsFruit trees, unlike most other kinds of crops and produce, take a little bit of finessing to figure out, and it can be frustrating at first to find the right method and locations for placement. Here's everything you need to know to nurture a grove of gorgeous trees.
What Are Fruit Trees?
While the term 'fruit trees' may sound self-explanatory (trees that grow fruits) there are actually two different types of fruit 'trees' in Coral Island. Both Fruit Plants and Fruit Trees look like trees, but only one of them is classified as such.
Until you know how to spot the difference, the distinction can be difficult to make. Despite both looking like trees, there are a few key differences between Fruit Trees and Fruit Plants to help you determine which ones you need and how you should plant them.
Fruit Trees
Fruit Trees can be bought from Sam's General store once you reach Town Rank C. They look very similar to Fruit Plants but cost a heftier amount of Coral Coins.
Fruit Trees are called saplings, while Fruit Plants are called seedlings. Confusing, right? It doesn't help that they look so similar, either.
Saplings look like little green trees in a brown bag, and they're marked with a little tree symbol.
There are seven kinds of saplings for you to buy.

You can also win the Apple Sapling by getting first place in the Apple Bobbing Minigame at the Harvest Festival.
Fruit Plants
Fruit Plants can be bought much earlier on than Fruit Trees, and can first be found at Sam's General Store at Town Rank E. Fruit Plants are called seedlings and look like a green tree in a white pot marked with a sprig of two leaves.
You can win the Pear Seedling from the Harvest Festival and buy the Snake Fruit Seedling from Ratih's Floating Market during the Spring Season, as well as buy the Cocoa Seedling at the Harvest Festival shop.
There are twelve different kinds of Fruit Plants for you to plant, but some of them are only unlocked after reaching Town Rank C.

How To Plant Fruit Trees
Fruit Trees can be planted in any season, but they will only produce fruit in their active season. Fruit Trees take 28 days to mature before they begin producing fruit.
Once planted, your Fruit Trees will not wither when the seasons change. However, they will still only produce fruit in their designated season. So, if you plant an orange tree on Winter 1, it will become a mature tree in time for Spring 1 and will produce fruit for the full spring season. Come Summer 1, the orange tree will go into hibernation and will no longer bear fruit until the next Spring.
Fruit Trees bear three fruits every four days.
On top of the amazing perk of not withering out of season, Fruit Trees also don't need to be watered. That means that they are a completely hands-off crop. Once you put your sapling in the ground, you don't have to tend to it until it's time to harvest your first fruits.
However, what Fruit Trees make up for in convenience, they lack in space requirement. Fruit Trees will take up a full 3x3 square of un-tilled tiles, meaning that they'll occupy roughly twice the space that Fruit Plants occupy, but you won't have to till the earth first.
Fruit Trees can only be planted in an unoccupied space surrounded by eight tiles of empty space. You cannot plant Fruit Trees unless the entire 3x3 square you want to plant them in is completely unoccupied.
Furthermore, you can't clutter the eight-tile space around the trunk of your tree until after you plant the tree. You have to wait until your tree has been successfully planted in the ground before you can put chests or ground tiles in the surrounding area. You also have to make sure that there are at least two tiles of buffer space between your Fruit Trees in any direction if you plan to plant an orchard.
Fruit Trees can be planted in the Greenhouse for year-round production. No more waiting a full year before you get your apples and oranges!
How To Plant Fruit Plants
Fruit Plants take a lot more work than Fruit Trees. First, you'll have to till a 2x2 square of tiles to plant your seedling in. Second, once you've planted your seedling in the tilled four tile square, you have to water all four tiles that your Fruit Plant occupies.
Furthermore, you need to keep watering all four tiles under your Fruit Plant every single day. Your Fruit Plants also take a full ten days to reach maturity, so you'll need to water them even while they're growing. If you skip a day of watering, it's like adding another day onto the growth period, further delaying your harvest.
If you forget to water even a single tile, the Fruit Plant won't get the nutrients it needs and won't progress to its next growth stage.
Fruit Plants, unlike Fruit Trees, won't survive the change in seasons. All Fruit Plants have two seasons in which they are viable, meaning that a single plant will produce for 56 days. After the designated seasons are up, the Fruit Plant will wither and die.
Fruit Plants bear two fruits every four days.
Luckily, you can plant your Fruit Plants in your Greenhouse and avoid the withering process. As long as you remember to water your Fruit Plants every day or keep them in range of an active sprinkler, they will continue to grow out of season in the Greenhouse. This is the most effective way to get the most bang for your banana.
How To Use Fruits
The uses of each fruit will vary, but most fruits can be used in either the preserving jar or keg. A few fruits (like almonds and olives) can even be used in the oil press and mill. You can also use fruit juices in the aging barrel to make delicious (and lucrative) artisan wines.
Here is the breakdown of which artisan machines each fruit can be added to.
