Millie, Coral Island's resident librarian, is in everyone's corner. She's constantly setting up errand opportunities, and her merit system is one of the most beneficial mechanics in the game. But what happens when Millie is the one in need?

Coral Island: How To Get Hardwood

You'll need Hardwood to access some lategame features in Coral Island.

Helping the island can get a little tiring, and sometimes Millie doesn't have all the answers. At some point, Millie will send you a letter requesting a bottle of Kelp Essence to research for her new article. Completing Millie's Article Quest is a great way to show Coral Island's favorite librarian some love - and earn you a few coral coins while you're at it!

Millie's Request

As you build relationship points with Millie, you'll eventually receive a letter from her, requesting your help completing an article she is working on. She's writing her latest article on the ocean and wants you to bring her a bottle of Kelp Essence so that she can complete her research.

Millie doesn't specify what kind of Kelp Essence she needs until you have read the letter, and it triggers Millie's Article quest in your player journal.

What Is Legendary Kelp Essence?

Millie's initial letter won't specify what kind of kelp essence she needs, but once you read the letter and trigger the quest, you'll be asked to bring Millie one Legendary Kelp Essence.

If you're looking through your chests and inventory for an item called Legendary Kelp Essence, you won't find what you need to complete Millie's quest, since the official name for Legendary Kelp Essenceis Osmium Kelp Essence. To make a bottle of Osmium Kelp Essence you need to put 10 Osmium Kelp and one piece of glass into the extractor.

Where To Find Osmium Kelp

Osmium - or Legendary - Kelp can be found at depths below 50 meters while diving. To unlock the Osmium Kelp depths, you'll need to clear the ocean up to the Empat Pulu (or 40-meter) zone.

Completing all Solar Orb locations in the Empat Pulu (40 meters) zone will open the Lima Pulu (50 meters) zone and grant you access to Osmium Kelp.

Alternative Methods

If you're struggling to make it through all of the Empat Pulu zone, don't worry. Diving can consume a lot of time and resources, and it can take a while before you're able to reach the Lima Pulu zone.

If you want to skip finishing all of Empat Pulu, you can still get Osmium Kelp Essence by completing the Rare Resources Temple Offering. A bottle of Osmium Kelp Essence is the reward for completing the Rare Resources bundle at the Lake Temple.

To complete the Rare Resources bundle, you will need to at least have reached the Empat Pulu zone and opened the Wind Shaft in the mines.

Rewards

Bringing Millie one bottle of Legendary Kelp Essence completes her quest. You will receive 600 Coral Coins and one relationship point with Millie.
