Summary

  • Concord's beta is being extended until July 15 at 8pm BST, allowing extra playtime for participants.
  • This comes after the beta was met with a mixed response when it went live over the weekend.

Concord's weekend beta is continuing for another day, with the devs extending it into July 15. Now, anyone who participated in the beta can keep playing for a few more hours, with the early testing period now coming to an end at 8pm BST.

This comes after the beta launched to mixed reactions over the weekend. While many were pleasantly surprised by the game - especially considering the negative reception to its reveal - others aren't convinced. Some are fearful that it won't be ready for its full launch next month, feeling that there are still gameplay issues to iron out.

Concord Beta Will Be Playable Until July 15, 12pm PDT

At the very least, many players who have given Concord a go over the weekend are pleased to see that they'll be able to play for a few more hours today. It's some goodwill that developer Firewalk Studios needs going into next month, as many will still remember Concord as the game that took up a significant amount of time at the latest PlayStation showcase - something which frustrated viewers so much that the trailer was spammed with dislikes.

Just a flutter, though. Sony’s newest live-service shooter is still painfully derivative.

If you're going to be too busy to try Concord out before the beta comes to an end, then fret not. The shooter is set to launch on August 23, so just a little over a month away. This is an incredibly short turnaround from its reveal, as we were only given the announcement and gameplay trailers back in late May.

Much like other Sony-published games, Concord will require a PSN account to play, even on PC. The devs have justified this, saying that it is needed for cross-play and cross-progression. So far, it seems to have avoided the controversy that came with Helldivers 2 making this a requirement, but that is possibly because Concord is being upfront about this prior to launch, whereas Helldivers was going to make it mandatory after the game had already been out for some time.
