It seems the gamble has paid off, as Clair Obscur has already sold one million copies of the game. It's currently also the highest rated game to come out in 2025, and has even snatched up the spot of highest player-rated game of all time on Metacritic. There's no denying that it's a good candidate for a live-action adaptation.

However, one of the main reasons the game is so popular is because of its unique, stylized approach to turn-based combat. While the narrative and characters can be adapted, there's no way that a movie will be able to capture the standout feature of the game.
