The many bosses that you’ll go up against in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will have many moving parts. For example, some bosses may have multiple stages with different move sets for each sequence. However, for Grosse Tete, this is not the case.

The character is limited in what it can do, but don’t let that fool you. Its simple play style can devastate and hurt your team if you don’t know how to tackle Grosse Tete. Defeating this boss can be done in a few ways. But if you read on, you can learn how easily down Grosse Tete.

Where To Find Grosse Tete

Getting to this creature will require you to progress through the main story of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. This is because you’ll need Esquire’s swimming skill. You’ll earn this ability near the end of Act 1, so completing the story to that point is the important part.

Once you have his swimming ability and make it past the Boat Graveyard to a new section of the Continent, start heading to the right-hand side of this land mass near a small body of water. When you make it to the beach, you should see Grosse Tete on the other side.

How To Defeat Grosse Tete

As mentioned, this boss battle has a simple move set. But when it hits you, most party members will lose large portions of their health. You can face Grosse Tete at a higher level to do damage; however, if you take it on at a lower level, you should consider the tips below.

Grosse Tete has one move, and that is jumping in the air and smashing down on the ground. Every turn it takes, it adds a couple more bounces. Then, on its last turn, it should be bouncing a total of 22 or 24 times.

The main goal for this fight (if you’re at a low level) is to parry or dodge the bounces coming down. Otherwise, they do a high amount of damage.

What Expedition Members To Use

To help negate the damage, have characters like Sciel, Verso, and Lune in your party since all three have powerful healing capabilities.

It’s also recommended to give Lune the Rebirth skill. She can revive a fallen party member without you having to use an elixir.

It does have a weakness to Dark attacks, which would make Sciel a great candidate to counter most of its moves. Lune and Verso play a pivotal role in this composition since you can make them the primary healers.

This team can help you sustain oncoming attacks. However, the focus of this setup is to accumulate a high number of Action Points in fewer turns. This results in all members being able to heal more often.

Best Way To Defeat The Boss

Since Grosse Tete may attack first, and you already know what type of attack it does, dodging or parrying should be easy. With the benefit of a single move, you can pick up the rhythm of the attacks faster. Once it goes up in the air, you can start to deflect the bounces.

When you see Grosse Tete start to come down while midair, that will be the moment to press your parry or dodge button.

However, be careful when counting the bounces. Each turn it takes, another bounce or two is added, making it slightly harder to anticipate.

On its final turn, provided you haven’t beaten it already, it should jump up and down around 24 times. If you successfully parry or dodge this turn, Grosse Tete comes down and self-destructs. This causes you to win the boss fight.

Rewards For Beating Grosse Tete

By defeating this challenging boss, you’ll earn 67,500 XP and one Resplendent Chroma Catalyst . But the Picto you earn called Warming Up makes the fight worth it.

It increases your damage to five percent per turn, this can be stacked up to five times. You could potentially land heavier attacks with this Picto.
