DMZ is one of the five featured game modes in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. It is an extraction-type game mode where you can freely roam around the map and complete various activities and contracts while fighting AI and other players.

X Marks The Spot isa part of the new Crown Faction missions, which were added to the game with season 4. The mission consists of elaborate puzzles at different locations in the Koschei Complex, which can confuse many players.

The Crown Faction missions are only available if you purchased Modern Warfare 2.

Mission Objectives

X Marks The Spot hastwo main objectives:

  • Unlock the keypad-locked room within the Koschei Complex using an R4D detector.
  • Extract the Koschei Complex map.

As straightforward as they look, unlocking the keypad-locked room within the Koschei Complex is fairly complicated.

To complete these objectives, you must complete the following steps.

  1. Enter the Koschei Complex.
  2. Make their way to the Chemical Plant.
  3. Find the R4D detector inside the Chemical Plant.
  4. Enter the Alpha Cluster.
  5. Figure out the keycode to the locked room using the detector.
  6. Unlock the locked room inside the Alpha Cluster.

All these steps need elaborate explanations, which are given in the next sections.

How To Enter The Koschei Complex

The Koschei Complex is a separate map in Warzone 2 DMZ that cannot be accessed through the matchmaking menu. To deploy into Koschei Complex, enter the queue for Al Mazrah and deploy into the map.

Before you go to Koschei Complex, take some time to find a set of jumper cables and a car battery; otherwise, you will not be able to enter the Alpha Cluster.

Entrance Points Locations For Koschei Complex

Four secret entrances on the map lead to the Koschei Complex. While three locations aremarked on the mapwith a question mark, the fourth location is hiddenwithin the Oasis region on the northwest side of the map.

The remaining three entry points for the Koschei Complex are at the following locations.

  1. The parking lot under Al Mazrah city.
  2. Inside the Rohan Oil Access Tunnels.
  3. Under the bridge between Al Mazrah City and Tarak Village.

Once you are at either of the entrances for the Koschei Complex, you will be transferred to the initial spawn location in the area. This area contains AI bots, which must be cleared to move on to the next section of the Koschei Complex.

How To Enter The Chemical Plant

The R4D detector is inside the second section of the Koschei Complex, also known as the Chemical Plant. After clearing the hostile NPCs at the initial spawn, you must solve a puzzle to access the entrance of the Chemical Plant.

The four different entrance points at Al Mazrah lead to four different spawn locations, which are:

  1. Information Extraction (City Carpark spawn point).
  2. External Ops. (Rohan Oil Access Tunnels spawn point).
  3. Barracks (Bridge spawn point).
  4. Defense Research Division (Oasis spawn point).

You can encounter three different puzzlesdepending on your entry point. Here is a brief overview of these puzzles.

Ensure that you and your friends have Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) on you before entering the Chemical Plant because it will be pitch black inside. If you are lucky, you can find one on the AI dead bodies at the initial spawn.

Information Extraction And External Ops.

The puzzles inside Information Extraction and External Ops. are completely identical. Both locations lead you to another bunker doorwith an exposed electrical board on the right side.

Upon interaction, the electrical board will prompt you with, "Something is missing here.” To fix the electrical board, find another set of jumper cables and a car battery in the area and place it on the circuit board.

This action will activate the circuit, allowing you to press the button that opens the bunker door. This door will then lead you into the Chemical Plant.

Do not use the jumper cables and battery you collected in Al Mazarah at this point. You will need them afterward.

Barracks

You will encounter thesecond puzzle inside the Barracks. This swimming puzzlerequires diving underwater to get to the next bunker entrance.

Once you reach the partially submerged section of the spawn point, dive in and follow the red arrows that will lead your way. Although you can always catch your breath near the ceiling, the last stretch has no air pockets.

Ensure you remain on the right track and closely follow the arrows in this section.

Defence Research Division

The third puzzle at the Defense Research Division is the longest of the three. The Initial spawn point leads you into three rooms with a gas leak and open doors.

Your job is to stop the gas leak and close the doors in each room.

  • In the first room, you can stop the gas leak by pressing a button on the control panel in front of you.
  • For the second room, you must manually close a door and press a button on the control panel to stop the gas leak.
  • The third room is the most difficult to complete since sentry guns and hostile AI guard it. So, to clear this room, you must first get rid of the hostile AI and then follow the same procedure as room number one.

Once you have cleared all the rooms, you will reach the bunker entrance to the Chemical Plant.

Be on the lookout for a loud audio cue that plays after you have successfully cleared each room. You can use it to verify that you have done everything right.

How To Find The R4D Detector

Once you have entered the Chemical Plant, equip your NVGs and go to the two huts in the central part of the plant. Once you are there, search both cabins for the R4D detector.

The detector will be placed on a workbench inside one of these huts. If you do not find a detector in either of these buildings, another player may have taken it before you.

The Chemical Plant is a PVP (Player versus Player) area, so you will encounter other players looking for loot in this section.

How To Unlock The Alpha Cluster

After you have collected the R4D detector, it is time to unlock the Alpha Cluster. The Alpha Cluster is a locked area inside the Chemical Plant that requires the same trick you used in Information Extraction and External Ops.

This is where you will use the jumper cables and car battery that you carried so far. Inside the Chemical Plant, look for the same circuit board you saw before in the Information Extraction and External Ops.

After you have located the circuit board, activate it using the jumper cables and battery. This will open two separate entrances on either side of the circuit that lead to the Alpha Cluster.

How To Locate And Open The Locked Room?

Inside the Alpha Cluster, keep exploring until you encounter a large open room. While clearing the second level of this room, you will find a door guarded by two sentry guns.

The Alpha Cluster is filled with hostile AI, sentry guns, and possibly other players, so take every step carefully.

Eliminate all hostile enemies here and head on to the locked room. Aim your R4D detector at the keypad that is securing the room.

You will see a secret code of three symbols written above the keypad. Remember these symbols and go back down.

The code on the wall changes every game, so a code that worked once may not work again.

How To Decrypt The Secret Code?

Look for three different blackboards inside the large room and use your R4D detector. Carefully look for the symbols you saw earlier on the keypad.

Each blackboard contains a symbol with an arrow that points towards a number. After recording these numbers, return to the keypad and enter the numbers in the exact order as the symbols.

This will open the locked door, and you can retrieve the Koschei Complex map inside. All you need to do now is use the exfil point inside the Alpha Cluster to exit the match with the Koschei Complex map safely.
