Cyberpunk Hits Another Milestone As Edgerunners Has People Flocking Back To Night City
Almost six years on from its release, and three years after the launch of its Phantom Liberty expansion, Cyberpunk 2077 just surpassed 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, the highest its player count the game has been since 2023.
Cyberpunk's Player Count Hits A Three-Year High
CD Projekt RedCyberpunk hit a peak player count of 101,558 on Sunday, according to SteamDB. That's the first time more than 100,000 of you have been playing Cyberpunk on Steam at the same time since October 2023, right after its incredibly well-received Phantom Liberty DLC was released. It's a long way off the one million mark it once hit to make it one of the most played single player games in Steam history, but it's still incredibly impressive and almost unheard of for a non-live service game to be pulling numbers like these so many years after launch.
Related20 Best Games To Buy During The Steam Summer Sale 2026
The 2026 Steam Summer Sale is finally here and hundreds of great games are receiving some of their biggest discounts yet!
Posts 1 By Kaitlyn PetersonThe leap to 100k players over the weekend wasn't a sudden one. Cyberpunk's Steam numbers have been on the ascent for the past two weeks or so. Although that can be attributed, in part, to its price being slashed during Steam's summer sale - it's currently $17.99, its lowest price ever - the steady uptick in players from its usual base of around 30,000 players began before the sale had started.
The Hype Train For Edgerunners Season Two Has Left The Station
On top of the heavy discount, one of the biggest reasons we can attribute to Cyberpunk's renewed success is the imminent arrival of Edgerunners, its anime spinoff that also takes place in Night City. Edgerunners is getting a second season, which we now know will be released this fall.
Hype for Edgerunners' return hit an all-time high over the weekend as attendees at Anime Expo were shown some of season two early. Very early, since the rest of us will be waiting months for its worldwide release on Netflix later this year. It makes sense that people would return to Night City to help fill the gap between now and season two, or perhaps pay it a visit for the first time, what with Cyberpunk being on sale for so little.

Clearly, the Steam sale helped the game achieve that milestone, one that makes it one of the 20 best-selling games of all time. An incredible achievement for any game, much less one that launched in such a terrible state that it has the unwanted accolade of being one of the biggest games ever to be delisted by PlayStation, albeit briefly.
