Cyberpunk 2077 Fans Think Kojima's Cameo Was Teasing OD

It's no great secret that Hideo Kojima makes a brief cameo in Cyberpunk 2077. You can find him towards the start of The Heist, hanging out in a bar in Konpeki Plaza. There, he has a few lines of dialogue about a project that his in-universe character, braindance developer Hideyoshi Oshima, is working on.
However, now that we know what real-life Kojima has had in the works since then, some fans believe this was actually referencing his upcoming game, OD. In the cameo, Oshima says that his "research team" in Tokyo is looking into how to best "capture emotions", which sounds an awful lot like that OD reveal trailer we got at The Game Awards last year.
This theory was shared by Reddit user Animusynthetika, who compiled the most relevant lines from Kojima's Cyberpunk 2077 appearance.
"I want my productions to convey real, raw human emotion," says Kojima's character. "These complex, realistic feelings and emotions are what I aspire to recreate... woven into much better stories, of course."
Sure enough, these statements are pretty vague and could be applied to most Kojima projects, but they fit in with what we've seen of OD especially well. It's very possible that OD was on his mind back when he was providing voice work for Oshima, and he purposely got some references in there. Of course, Oshima's dialogue also reflects how Kojima views game development in general, so it's unsurprising to see that philosophy captured in the OD reveal from last December.

Eleven minutes of exposition dumping does not make for a good trailer.
PostsOD looks set to be a very ambitious project, once again showcasing Kojima's love of film. It's being made in collaboration with Jordan Peele, the director of Get Out and Nope. The first trailer revealed three of the actors that are in the game, Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier.
The game is part of Kojima Production's partnership with Microsoft and was previously confirmed to be an Xbox console exclusive, in the same way that Death Stranding was for PlayStation before it was later ported to PC the following year. The sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, will also launch exclusively on PlayStation 5.
OD doesn't currently have a release date. We'll likely hear more about it once Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has launched, which is scheduled for some time in 2025.
