Cult of the Lamb has a rich backstory filled with intrigue and curious characters if you care to dig down deep enough. With the Relics of the Old Gods update, we received a large crop of new content, including the ability to explore what happens to a certain pair of characters after the end of the main story.

Aym and Baal serve as two of The One Who Waits' henchmen and are fought as part of the final boss. With the update, however, you are able not only to recruit them as followers but to reunite them with their mother, earning yourself an achievement.

How To Recruit Aym & Baal As Followers

First things first, you must have completed the game to unlock Aym and Baal - you can't get them before you beat them, after all! Once you've entered the postgame, you'll soon meet ???, an NPC who blocks your way to the final boss room. They are the key to recruiting these characters.

The NPC will allow you to trade God Tears for random rewards, such as Forgotten Commandment Stones and Talisman pieces. In order to recruit Aym and Baal, you'll need to be rewarded with two very specific Necklaces:

  • A Light Necklace to recruit Baal.
  • A Dark Necklace to recruit Aym.

You'll know you have the right Necklaces as their descriptions mention sacrifice.

Once you have one of these necklaces, the next step is to gift this necklace to one of your followers. This follower will be 'traded' for the special followers.

It is important to note that when you recruit Aym and Baal, they will take on the traits and age of the follower you used to acquire them. This means that if you wish to keep them around, make sure you use a follower with good traits who isn't too old.

Once you have a follower wearing either the Light Necklace or the Dark Necklace, you must sacrifice them using the Sacrifice of the Flesh Ritual. During the ritual, the follower will be traded for either Aym or Baal, depending on the necklace.

After you've recruited them both, you'll get some special dialogue with The One Who Waits, if he's still around.

How To Reunite Aym & Baal With Forneus

To actually get the True Love Found achievement, you'll need to reunite Aym and Ball with their mother, Forneus. Forneus is the catlike shopkeeper who you can run into during a crusade in any of the dungeons.

Be aware that reuniting Aym and Ball with their mother will remove them from your cult permanently. There will be no way to bring them back as followers, but they will show up on future crusades.

To bring Aym and Baal with you on a crusade, you'll need to use a Demonic Summoning Circle of level two or higher. Turn the followers into demons and take them to a crusade.

As long as a shop spawns, you'll be able to get this achievement. Just make sure you head to the shop when prompted and talk to Forneus. You will be rewarded with the achievement and two Relics, the Blessed Tears of the Vengeful Father and the Damned Tears of the Merciful Mother.
