If you've been trying to download and play Shadows Of The Templar: Reforged on Switch today and you've come to the internet looking for an answer as to why it's not there, this is it. As for why exactly the Switch version won't be available for at least another 12 days, the Broken Sword team cited wanting to make sure "the quality of play remains equally high across all versions of the game". Definitely fair enough, it's just a shame that it took until less than 12 hours before the game's arrival to realize that. It's not out of the ordinary for this to happen. Almost exactly one year ago, the imminent launch of WrestleQuest was delayed on all platforms with even less time to go until its release.

You'll Have To Wait Until October To Play Broken Sword On Switch

But It's Available On All Other Major Platforms Today

If you planned on playing Shadows Of The Templar: Reforged on another platform, then you don't have anything to worry about as its PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions have been released without issue. If you've opted to wait for the remaster to get a physical release, this also won't concern you. The physical version of the Broken Sword remaster won't be here until early 2025, by which point any issues with the Switch edition will have almost certainly been ironed out.

Revolution hasn't provided specifics on why exactly the Switch version of its Broken Sword remaster isn't on the same level as other platforms, but it's more evidence that despite the Switch's success, Nintendo needs a new console. That will happen very soon with Nintendo promising it will reveal news about its Switch successor before the end of the current financial year. Images leaked of what some have claimed to be a prototype of the Switch 2 this week, but the validity of those images is yet to be verified.
