Our return trip to Paris in Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforgedhas given us lots to contemplate and it's time to head back to Spain to catch up with the Countess and dig up a new clue or two.

At Gamescom, we spoke with Revolution Software's Charles Cecil about Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged.

We're nearing the end of this mystery, so buckle up! This walkthrough will cover only the essential actions you need to progress through the game, but we recommend going off the beaten path to experience some of the optional scenes and conversations as they can be quite funny.

The Villa De Vasconcellos

You'll be thrown into a conversation with Lopez immediately, but afterwards, head inside the villa and go upstairs to speak with the Countess.

George will automatically return the chalice, and then speak with her about:

• The chalice
• The Countess

End the conversation and head back outside to go to the mausoleum.

Inside the mausoleum, examine the lectern and then pick up the bible.

Return inside the villa to the Countess and show her the bible. After you work out the psalm clues, end the conversation and head downstairs.

At the bottom of the staircase, grab the mirror off the wall on your left, then go outside and return to the mausoleum.

Interact with the pole to pick it up and then click on the window to close it. Open your inventory and use the grease paint tissue on the pole and then use that on one of the lit candles on your left.

Now use your pole to light the candle hanging from the ceiling to earn yourself a new clue, a stone key.

Go back outside and speak to Lopez and ask him about the well until the option is gone and he tells you about water dowsing.

Walk to the far left where the hose is plugged into the wall and examine the hazel tree to the right to find your stick.

Return to Lopez and show him the stick so that he'll show you how to use it, after which George will automatically start dowsing. After a short scene, you'll find yourself in the well.

The Ancient Well

Inspect the lion head on the wall to your right to notice a fang is loose, then interact with it again. Once George says he's in danger, be prepared to click him away to the left.

This is one of the parts of the game where you can die if you don't move George to safety.

Use the mirror on the well shaft wall, then use the stone key you found in the mausoleum in the stone socket.

Head inside and you'll unearth the mystery of the missing kids. George automatically returns the chess key to the Countess.

Back In Paris

You'll return to Nico's apartment in Paris, only Lobineau is there now too. During the automatic conversation, you'll realise your next destination: Scotland.
