Let's not kid ourselves; the real allure is about the bosses. There is a staggering number of different bosses you can run into throughout Black Myth: Wukong, to the point that it's surprising when you've gone a while without running into one, but which are the best of the best?

8 Buddha's Right Hand

Chapter 4

Close

While it is not the most grand encounter you'll run into, Buddha's Right Hand is perhaps one of the most fun, unavoidable bosses that you'll have to take down throughout the game. Starting off as a strange hand reaching down from the top of the narrow cavernous corridor, you'll have to chase it down to get hits in, all while dodging its attacks.

But once you've dealt enough damage, it'll reveal its true form as a grotesque bug with an elongated tail shaped like a hand. The difficulty will ramp up, but this fight is so memorable for the reveal, and it likely won't cause much trouble. In fact, once you've beaten it, the beast acts as a pretty useful bridge.

7 Black Bear Guai

Chapter 1

Close

The final encounters of each chapter are arguably some of the most spectacular boss fights in the genre, and the standard is set at the beginning of the game with Black Bear Guai. After learning the Cloud Step technique, you'll be able to reach the temple at the top of the mountain relatively unscathed, but it won't stay easy with the flaming Black Bear Guai ready to pounce as soon as you arrive.

While it isn't as spectacular as some of the later bosses, Black Bear Guai is a massive threat and serves as a perfect challenge to send off the first chapter of The Destined One's adventure.

6 Tiger Vanguard

Chapter 2

Close

Likely, one of the most aggressive enemies you'll face early on in Black Myth: Wukong is the Tiger Vanguard. He's a threatening presence that lounges in a pool of what we can only assume is waist-deep blood, but as soon as he's on his feet, he starts one of the most frantic and fast-paced boss fights of the game.

Compared to previous bosses, Tiger Vanguard has an incredibly varied moveset, and with the speed of his actions, you'll be forced to learn his patterns to even stand a chance of survival. Getting a new spell makes it all worthwhile once you finally beat him, but he still remains one of the trickiest hurdles to overcome.

5 Whiteclad Noble

Chapter 1

Close

There's nothing more terrifying than the first boss in a game that reveals a second health bar, and the badge holder for this in Black Myth: Wukong is the Whiteclad Noble. Not only does he reveal that he will take twice as long to defeat, but he also has an entirely new form, snaking out from under the water and making him significantly harder to hit.

While you have the option to do a bit of grinding, there is only so much you can do to improve at this point in the game, making the Whiteclad Noble one of the most stalwart roadblocks this early on in the game.

4 Fuban

Chapter 2

Close

Once getting to the end of the secret quest line in Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong, you'll be set loose on a massive desert that screams boss arena as soon as you look at it. At this point, you'll have heard about Fuban, and be ready and equipped to take on this gargantuan scarab beetle.

Luckily, this massive beast is not too much of a challenge, especially since you'll get some help from the Yellow Wind Sage in the latter half of the fight. However, the difficulty is not what makes this boss impressive; instead, it's the spectacle and scale of the encounter.

3 Erlang The Sacred Divinity

Chapter 6

Close

Likely the toughest challenge you'll face in the concluding hours of Black Myth: Wukong is against the recognizable face from all the way back at the beginning of the game: Erlang the Sacred Divinity.

Sun Wukong's three-eyed rival is every bit as challenging as you'd think he would be (it's always the humanoid bosses who have to worry about). He's truly a test of everything you've learned throughout the game and perhaps the most satisfying to finally get the chance to take down.

2 Duskveil

Chapter 4

Close

The secret boss encounters in Black Myth: Wukong are some of the most challenging and entertaining to beat after the effort you put into tracking them down. One of the more unnerving foes you're tasked with beating is Duskveil.

What makes the earlier portions of the fight against the nightmarish creature entertaining, is that if you go into the fight before beating Scorpionlord, the two will fight each other, and you can just watch them go at it until Duskveil takes out the otherwise frustrating venemous threat. You'll still, of course, have to worry about Duskveil (and his second health bar) but the pure satisfaction of getting to watch two bosses take each other on is unrivalled.

1 Yellowbrow

Chapter 3

Close

One of the most cinematic and creative boss encounters throughout Black Myth: Wukong is with the final boss of Chapter 3, Yellowbrow. The treacherous interloper is happy to put The Destined One through the wringer in this multi-stage marathon that even features a Macaque Chief intermission where you briefly reunite with Zhu Bajie.

The final phase is undeniably the hardest, with brief opportunities to try and beat Yellowbrow out of his golden immunity, all while trying not to let the shock bane accumulate too much. The different phases of this fight will push you to your limits, but it acts as a fantastic finale to the third chapter.
