Summary

  • Yesterday, Ubisoft shared a trailer for Beyond Good & Evil's 20th Anniversary Edition, which launches this month.
  • One of the new features of the remaster is an Anniversary Gallery, which includes a cheeky picture of Rayman.
  • Fans have no idea why a Rayman easter egg has been added as part of the remaster, but they're hopeful that it's a hint at more to come.

Beyond Good & Evil's 20th Anniversary Edition appears to have a cameo from everyone's favourite limbless wonder Rayman, although no one is really sure why.

Last week, Ubisoft held its Forward showcase for the Summer, which gave us a great look at Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin's Creed Shadows, alongside confirming that the Sands of Time remake won't be releasing until 2026. One thing that didn't show up during the event, though, was Beyond Good & Evil's 20th Anniversary Edition, which was revealed early in 2023.

This absence was made even stranger when, just yesterday, Ubisoft decided to share a full launch trailer for Beyond Good & Evil's anniversary edition, which is now slated to release in a few weeks. Confusing announcements aside, it's great to see BG&E return after so many years, especially now that it's bringing back another Ubisoft icon.

Beyond Good & Evil's Anniversary Has Added A Rayman Cameo

During the launch trailer for the Anniversary Edition, a new feature called "Anniversary Gallery" is shown off, which showcases a bunch of images from the game's development that feature dates next to them. As cute as most of the photos are, the highlight of the section is when Rayman (in his Hoodlum Havoc outfit) is shown in one of the images.

Some fans have pointed out that the photo of Rayman doesn't actually have a date next to it, which could be taken as a tease for more news in the future.

Despite Beyond Good & Evil having the same creator as Rayman, Michel Ancel, this cameo isn't from the original release of the game and actually appears to be brand-new. It's not really clear why Rayman is here and to what capacity the reference is being taken, but fans are hopeful that it's going to be more than just a photo in the game's anniversary gallery.

In fact, considering Rayman's cameo has been added as part of a celebration for a Beyond Good & Evil remaster, some fans think that the easter egg is potentially hinting at some older Rayman games getting the same treatment. We've already got Rayman 3 HD, but a Rayman 2 remake is long overdue.
