PostsThere is so much variety that it's hard to define which should be categorized as the best. After all, what type of game you like will factor into what you consider the greatest. However, all of the following titles are exceptional in various ways, and it's hard to argue against any of them being the best.
8 Yakuza 0
Like most entries in the Yakuza series, Yakuza 0 manages to combine seriousness with absurdity. A lot of the side quests are comical and silly, but the main story is an emotional tale. It's also unique, as it features two protagonists who find themselves at the center of an all-out war among the Yakuza.
The multi-protagonist narrative is compelling throughout. Equally entertaining is the third-person combat, which heavily focuses on hand-to-hand battles. Different fighting styles and weapons keep the combat exciting.
7 It Takes Two
Plenty of great games allow co-op, but It Takes Two is one of the few to be completely built around the concept. You have to play this title with another player. This is to its benefit, as it means the co-op play is finely tuned. Both players have their part to play and have to work together to beat every puzzle and boss.

PostsThe gameplay is very varied as each new area adds a new ability or mechanic. That variety helps the adventure remain exciting from beginning to end. The story is good, too, as it's about a struggling married couple becoming dolls and being forced to figure things out together.
6 Persona 5 Royal
Persona 5 Royal is a turn-based RPG with a unique premise. You play as a teenage vigilante group who attempts to change the hearts of evil adults. They do this by entering a strange realm where they can get a peak into their target's subconscious thoughts, feelings, and desires.
These places are called palaces and they're all different. When you're not roaming these areas, you're living a regular teenage life in Japan. These life simulation moments are often just as interesting as roaming dungeons.
5 Inside
Limbo is one of the best arcade games on the Xbox 360, and Inside is its spiritual successor. It's an atmospheric puzzle platform game where you control a young red-shirted boy in a dark world. Your only goal is to progress forward, which you do by completing environmental puzzles and avoiding death.
So, the concept of the title is very simple. Yet, there is more depth and cleverness to this game than it initially seems. It's certainly not like any title you've played before.
4 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, you control a Shinobi who sets out on a revenge mission in Sengoku Japan. On the said mission, you battle all sorts of powerful foes. Most of the battles are punishingly difficult, which is something this game is known for.
However, providing a challenge isn't the only thing this game has going for it. The title also has excellent and satisfying combat similar to FromSoftware's previous games, such as Dark Souls. The visuals are impressive, too, particularly the beautiful environment.
3 Grand Theft Auto 5
Grand Theft Auto 5 originally launched on the Xbox 360 just before the Xbox One came out. But it quickly got released on the newer console, too, and it still remains one of the system's best games.

Regardless of whether you're doing vital quests or optional ones, you will get to experience excellent writing and wonderful characters. On top of all that, Witcher 3 includes a card game called Gwent that is among the best mini-games in RPG history.
1 Red Dead Redemption 2
Fans waited a long time for another Red Dead Redemption game. It was worth the wait, though. Red Dead Redemption 2 is an incredible open-world title all about the adventures of the Van Der Linde gang. You play as one of its main members, Arthur Morgan.
The narrative is the area where this game really shines. The writing, in particular, is exceptional and makes it hard not to get invested in Arthur and his allies. Also, the open world is fun to roam around as it's very detailed and contains so many interesting things to see. Plus, the combat is solid, the visuals are impressive, and the world really feels alive. So, the title has a lot going for it.
