PostsYou may be used to seeing his live-action characters, but movies aren't the only place where his roles stand out. Todd has voiced numerous characters across animated shows and video games. There might even be some that surprise you!
Updated on November 14, 2024, by Dennis Moiseyev: Given the sudden passing of the beloved icon Tony Todd, it only feels right that this list be populated with a few more characters that Todd lent his powerful voice to. From notable comic villains to superheroes and standout original roles in the world of animation and gaming, he has contributed his talents to a wide variety of performances, and these are the ones we'll all remember him by. Rest in power, Tony Todd.
15 Devil
Final Destination 3
While appearing throughout the Final Destination series as the iconic character William Bludworth, Tony Todd only had a voice cameo in 2006's Final Destination 3. The main premonition of the main characters' deaths occurs on a roller coaster called Devil's Flight, where Todd's voice can be heard through the giant devil mascot greeting guests as they enter the ride.
His voice in Final Destination 3 is a small but clever way for him to continue being part of the series, only giving a devilish laugh and saying a few lines, like "You can run, but you can't hide" and "This is the beginning of the end." Nonetheless, with Todd's voice behind it, the talking devil statue becomes scarier and more menacing than the ride itself.
14 Dr. Rogers
Back 4 Blood
Back 4 Blood is Turtle Rock Studios' spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, with zombies called Ridden that have a parasitic Devil Worm being the cause of their mutations. Tony Todd knows a thing or two about this parasite, as he plays the doctor in a yellow hazmat suit whose research led to the creation of T-5 grenades that prove most effective against the Ridden.
The campaign trailer debuted the character, with Todd voicing the narration, and he is a critical NPC throughout the story for his scientific expertise. He appears in many missions in Act 3, talking to you through the radio, but what would've made this character even better is if he was playable.
13 Icon
Young Justice
Tony Todd was an actor heavily involved with DC and one of the more minor characters he got to portray was Icon in the animated show Young Justice. Although he's also known for the villains Zoom and Darkseid in the DC universe, you can't think of a more fitting superhero role for Todd than someone literally called Icon.

Incredibly talented voice actors are behind our favorite DC characters in video games, and here we look at the very best of the bunch.
PostsIn Young Justice, Icon (aka Augustus Freeman) is a recurring character and member of the Justice League who is a mentor and partner to the young superhero Rocket, like in the comics. Tony Todd brought a lot of warmth and grace to the character, even with his traditional gruff voice. He voiced Icon only in the first two seasons, but his character appears in multiple episodes across all four seasons of the show.
12 Scare Glow
Masters Of The Universe: Revelation And Masters Of The Universe: Revolution
Tony Todd is an on-screen legend for a reason. Not only did he bring to life characters in some of the most iconic horror films, but he also branched off into so many popular franchises in the realm of animation. Among those include Masters of the Universe, where he voices the villain Scare Glow in the 2020 animated installments on Netflix from creator Kevin Smith.
Like all characters in Masters of the Universe media, Scare Glow originated from the line of toys by Mattel, and 2021's Masters of the Universe: Revelation finally saw the villain's animation debut. Tony Todd is easily recognizable as the glowing green skeletal enemy who rules Eternia's underworld known as Subternia and serves the main antagonist, Skeletor (who's voiced by Mark Hamill).
11 Kurn/Rodek And Korban
Star Trek: The Next Generation - Klingon Honor Guard, Star Trek Online, And Star Trek: Elite Force 2
Those who might not know Tony Todd from horror will surely recognize him for his role as Kurn/Rodek, or the younger brother of Worf, from the series Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He reprised his Klingon character in video games like 1998's Klingon Honor Guard and Star Trek Online, the latter featuring questlines from him, including those where he'll join you as a companion.
In 2003's Star Trek Elite: Force 2, one of the best Star Trek games of all time, Tony Todd got to play a new Klingon character named Korban, a non-canon member of the Enterprise. And Korban actually became one of his earliest original voice-acting credits in a video game.
10 Fallen
Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
The 2009 sequel to Michael Bay's Transformers saw the plot dive deeper into the origins of the Decepticons by introducing an ancient enemy called The Fallen, the founder of the Decepticons and the one who orders Megatron around. And there was no better actor for such a legendary villain robot than Tony Todd; though he didn't end up reprising the role in the video game adaptation.

PostsFallen has much more formidable powers than most of the Transformers that can just use blasters and disguise as various aircraft and vehicles. He's able to use telekinesis to throw debris and pieces of structures at opponents and can even teleport across locations.
9 Dreadwing
Transformers: Prime
Tony Todd wasn't quite finished with Transformers after playing the titular villain in Revenge of the Fallen, as he went on to voice the Decepticon called Dreadwing in the animated TV series Transformers: Prime. While not a main character this time, he did star as Dreadwing in a few episodes of the show's second season.
Dreadwing is similar to his brother, Skyquake, and the other famous Decepticon, Starscream, in that he transforms into a jet, specifically a yellow and navy blue one with his color pattern. Dreadwing's character is also notable for his arc, where he has a change of heart about the Decepticons and decides to betray them to help out the Autobots.
8 Slyrak And Slyvion
Dota: Dragon's Blood
Tony Todd has lent his voice to several characters in Valve's MOBA video game Dota 2, including Dragon Knight and Viper, and in Netflix's Dota: Dragon's Blood anime adaptation, Todd is the red dragon deuteragonist Slyrak. And it's a character that feels like a precursor to Venom for Tony Todd.
Slyrak is one of the Eldwurms who takes possession of the Dragon Knight Davion after their battle in the first episode. Being a host within Davion, the dragon grants him the ability to transform into the more humanoid shape called Slyvion when conflicts occur, making him lose control and frighteningly rip and tear through foes.
7 Vortigaunts
Half-Life Series
Back 4 Blood wasn't the only FPS game Tony Todd had the opportunity to voice in, as he portrayed the alien Vortigaunt creatures in the Half-Life series, most prominently in the VR game Half-Life: Alyx. Though they may look grotesque, their personalities are quite charming and fun, as Vortigaunts are a species that welcome conversation, sometimes even sharing future events too soon.
That's precisely what happens when you meet a Vortigaunt suffering from a brain injury along the way in Half-Life: Alyx, who accidentally tells protagonist Alyx Vance that her father Eli will die. It's a rare comical encounter where Todd's voice can actually evoke some laughs rather than terrify.
6 Admiral Tommy Briggs
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2
Call of Duty campaigns are known to use some of the biggest Hollywood stars for their characters, and Black Ops 2 had Sam Worthington as Alex Mason, Michael Keaton as Hudson, Michael Rooker as Harper, and Tony Todd as the series' most foul-mouthed leader yet – Admiral Tommy Briggs. You probably already know which word he gravitates toward when referring to Menendez and other hostiles.

While you're more used to hearing his deep guttural voice on scary characters, Tony Todd shows it's also effective for an assertive military role.
