Offline games are perfect for lots of reasons. Sometimes, we need a peaceful distraction for annoyingly long commutes, and other times, the WiFi decides to take a day off. Regardless of the reason, offline games are lifesavers if you enjoy the thrill of video games.

If you have access to a laptop, even if it's not top-of-the-range, you can play some of the best laptop games!
PostsLet’s take it a step further to explore simulation games, the godsent way to enjoy realistic experiences without having to do them in real life. They do us an imaginary favor by letting us tinker with random realities with (check this out) no real-life repercussions. Skip the search and check out the best simulation games you can play offline.
8 Stardew Valley
CloseStardew Valley is a farm life role-playing game (RPG). You play as a customizable character who inherits their deceased grandfather's run-down farm in a place called Stardew Valley. You are given some seeds and a farm; the rest is up to you.
Stardew Valley is simple and creative and lets you do what you want, whether that is filling your farm with animals, fishing all day, or touring the mines. It's all at your own pace.
Just make sure to download any updates before you go off-grid.
7 Egg. Inc
CloseEgg. Inc is a charming idle clicker game that rewards you for amassing and selling eggs from your egg farm. Your main objective is to make the most profitable egg farm by continuously amassing and distributing eggs.
Aside from the unintrusive and optional advertising, what makes Egg. Inc so good is its excellent progression. You can use earnings to upgrade your chicken habitats, shipping trucks, and silos to reach a high enough farm value that allows you to upgrade your egg. The more valuable your eggs are, the more income per egg they will rake in.
6 Minecraft
CloseMinecraft is a sandbox game in its purest form. Like a hunter-gatherer, your aim is to survive, gather resources, and rule your kingdom. Admittedly, the end game is to find and defeat the Ender Dragon (a hostile mob boss at the end), but most of Minecraft is open-ended.
You can play Minecraft’s single-player mode offline, provided you have signed into the launcher and downloaded at least one version of the game before going offline. As a plus, Minecraft is as good alone. Just make sure to connect it to the internet every once in a while to update the game when new features are added.
5 Terraria
CloseTerraria is the ultimate solo adventure bundled in an action-adventure sandbox game. After creating your character, your first task is to build residences to invite people you rescued to your new village. After that, rather than one big end goal, Terraria challenges you with multiple long-term goals, like exploring the game’s open world and fighting bosses in intense battles.

Permanent buffs are the way to go if you want to get a lot stronger in Terraria.
PostsTerraria is the kind of game where you think you have done everything, then realize there’s still a ton more adventures. Like other sandbox games, there is minimal handholding, which is a standout feature if you value replayability.
As a slight downside, it is harder to fight the bosses alone.
4 Mini Metro
CloseMini Metro is a strategy simulation game that tasks you with designing an efficient rail transit network for a growing city. So, you will draw railways between stations and rework them as new stations open to keep your network efficient. The thing is, however, behind Mini Metro’s minimal design hides (reasonably) challenging puzzles and controls that take a little getting used to.
As your railway system expands, the screen zooms out, and the railway lines get progressively more complicated. To be fair, the best thing about this game is its gradually progressing complexity, which makes it perfect for idling away.
The controls have a learning curve because it becomes harder to pick stuff up on the screen.
3 Fallout Shelter
CloseFallout Shelter is a free-to-play simulation game for mobile, console, and PC. Your aim is to build and manage an underground shelter, find ways to store food and water, and source supplies to survive the lethal radiation when you send people out to scavenge. You know, typical post-apocalyptic stuff.
Fallout Shelter is hard to put down, fun enough to gush over your base with friends, and not so predatory with its microtransactions. Plus, it is one of the games that are better without spending money because every magnifying glass or desk fan feels like an actual accomplishment.
2 Adventure Bar Story
CloseAdventure Bar Story is a bar management RPG that tasks you with achieving a top restaurant in a fantasy world. Your character is Siela, a young woman who runs a bar with her sister, Kamerina, and is struggling with her business’ poor sales. So what do you do? You adventure in dungeons, defeat enemies, and cook killer dishes on the side.
As a slight downside, Adventure Bar Story doesn’t provide a tutorial to segue you into the game’s multifaceted adventures. However, it's a wonderful game for gamers who can’t resist figuring out a checklist.
1 Animal Crossing
CloseAnimal Crossing is a social simulation game that sees a human move into a village filled with anthropomorphic animals. Your main objective is to save money and pay off the mortgage on your character’s home. So you will take on odd jobs like collecting fruit, shells, and wood and trading them for money (bells).
The best thing about Animal Crossing is its open-endedness. It presents you with the core goal and allows you to accomplish it at your own pace. So, Animal Crossing will reward you for playing consistently but won’t punish you for not doing so.
