Battlefield 6's Long-Rumored Battle Royale Mode Has Finally Been Revealed, And It Includes An Insta-Kill Ring Of Death

Battlefield 6 officially has a battle royale mode. It's been rumored for quite a while, with the mode's map already having leaked on social media a couple of months ago, but EA finally lifted the lid earlier today, in a new blog post on the publisher's website.
In the post, Battlefield developer Dice explains that this new battle royale mode — built on the game's "unique DNA" — will be hitting Battlefield Labs this week, letting players try it out for the first time and provide feedback to help refine the experience. It will include a map built from the ground up for this new mode, various transport and armored vehicles, and the game's classic destruction system.
Battlefield 6's Battle Royale Ring Is The Deadliest Ever Created
So far, so very battle royale, and while the addition of in-depth destruction could have been enough to set this one apart from the rest, Dice has taken things one step further. If you've played any battle royale game, you'll know that staple of the genre is for a ring of death to slowly shrink the map and force players into more close-quarters fights.
In most battle royale titles, like Fortnite and Apex Legends, hovering around the ring's border and potentially diving into it for cover is considered a valid tactic. You're usually given a bit of leeway when it comes to playing around in the ring's borders, as most of them simply sap your health away over time. Battlefield 6 isn't having any of that nonsense though.
Described by Dice as "the most dangerous ring in gaming", making any kind of contact with Battlefield 6's battle royale ring will kill you instantly. You can hang around the ring's border as normal, but you'll be one wrong move away from an early grave. It sounds like an interesting little tweak to the standard battle royale format, adding a little more pressure when the map starts to shrink.
