Summary

  • A Baldur's Gate 3 modder has restored some cut content.
  • This mod brings back Wyll and Lae'zel's flirty banter.
  • It's unclear why the banter was removed, as it's hardly out of character for anyone involved.

Baldur's Gate 3 is full of various companion banters, changing depending on your relationships with characters and who you have in your party at any given time. Some of the more memorable banters you could get at launch saw Wyll try his luck with Lae'zel and Shadowheart, but as fans have noticed, this was oddly removed in a patch.

Now, a fan has brought it back. One of the most popular mods on Baldur's Gate 3's Nexus page right now brings back a series of banters in which Wyll tries to woo Lae'zel - only to get shot down and move onto an unamused Shadowheart. The lines are great, as they have fun with the idea of Wyll being a hopeless romantic, and Lae'zel very much not being that. But hey, opposites attract!

Baldur's Gate 3 Modder Brings Back Cut Content

Wyllzel lives thanks to this fan

Wyllzel Flirty Banter Restored by Nexus Mods user Magnetuning does exactly that - restoring the banters that a patch appeared to do away with.

In these banters, it becomes clear that Wyll is charmed by Lae'zel, and who could blame him? It ties in nicely with Lae'zel finding Wyll attractive - and who could blame her? They truly are perfect for each other.

We Deserve To See More Wyll In Baldur's Gate 3

He's a fantastic character with just a bit too much of his story left on the cutting room floor. Let's give him his flowers!

Alas, after a few failed attempts to woo Lae'zel, Wyll tries Shadowheart instead - who had overheard the entire thing. She helpfully suggests that he moves on with someone who didn't just witness all of his exchanges with Lae'zel, which is fair.

The mod has been downloaded more than 6,000 times. Wyllzel nation rise up.

It's not entirely clear why Larian scrapped these. Some wonder if they dated back to Wyll's characterisation in early access, but he was played by a different actor back then, so the lines must have been recorded for the final game. Perhaps Larian just second-guessed itself and felt that these wouldn't suit him. However, I would argue that there's nothing wrong with trying to be the perfect gentleman for Lae'zel. Let him have a go at it.
