"Not Everybody Needs To Get Banged": Baldur's Gate 3's Halsin Actor Reminds Shippers That Characters Are Allowed To Just Be Friends

Summary
- Baldur's Gate 3's Halsin actor Dave Jones was recently asked about his opinion on the heated debate surrounding the relationship between Viktor and Jayce from Arcane.
- In response, Jones says he thinks "not everyone needs to get banged", and that characters are allowed to "remain simply platonic".
Baldur's Gate 3 can be a very raunchy game if you want it to be, as your character can shack up with almost everything that has a pulse - it doesn't even have to be human in some cases. That makes it the perfect game for all the shippers out there that like to see their favorite characters out there lock lips, but one actor from the game thinks that relentless shipping isn't that great.
This actor is Dave Jones (thanks GamesRadar), the voice behind Halsin, who recently gave his opinion on the heated debate over the relationship of Viktor and Jayce from Netflix's Arcane series. It's a very popular headcanon in the Arcane community, but one that lead writer Christian Linke has shut down, after claiming the two just had a "really close friendship" and that there is no romantic connection between them.
Baldur's Gate 3's Halsin Actor Wants Shipper To Know Characters "Can Remain Simply Platonic"
When asked for his opinion on the Viktor/Jayce ship, Jones says he thinks that "not everyone needs to get banged", and that not every pair of characters in a piece of media needs to be "remorselessly clapping together like Ken dolls". He goes on to say that characters can "remain simply platonic". Probably not the response you'd expect from the man behind the bangable bear, but it's a response I respect nonetheless.

If you're thinking about going back to Baldur's Gate 3, the final patch is a perfect excuse.
PostsSure, it can be fun to imagine Karlach and Shadowheart in a loving relationship, but we have seen shipping wars turn nasty in the past - wade into any debate over Cloud/Tifa/Aerith, and you'll come out the other side a changed person. It can be nice to have close relationships depicted in games and TV shows that are purely platonic, without a horde of people rushing in to demand they jump into bed with each other.
In any case, if you really want to see two characters go at it, that's what mods are for, though console modding for Baldur's Gate 3 recently took a turn for the worse. Earlier this week, Larian sadly confirmed that "technical requirements" have forced the studio to not allow race mods on consoles, which means if you want to see a Satyr romance a Tabaxi, playing on PC is your best bet.
