Aside from any spell slots and epic weapons you may have, there are other ways to deal damage in Baldur's Gate 3. There are plenty of tricks you can utilize to gain the upper hand as well as to just make combat ten times more entertaining.

Combat does not have to be a boring, slow slog of a fight. Throwing a whole person is both hilarious and useful. Not just anybody can pick up a human or creature and haul them across the room, though. We will get into how you can unlock the ability to throw a person and what it does.
How To Throw Characters
The main important thing when it comes to Throw is Strength. Every character can use Throw on something like a rock or their own weapon. The restrictions come when you try to Throw someone like The Hag or throw a heavy traveler's chest.
Throwing something heavier requires more skill points in your Strength stat.
The absolute best classes to pick for high Strength are Barbarian and Paladin. Barbarians have the highest stat in Strength. That is why the companion Karlach should be your go-to in combat. You could respec, but by recruiting Karlach you can always have the upper hand.
How much Strength you need depends on your size and what you aim to carry. Naturally, a halfling character cannot throw a tiefling, but a tiefling can throw a halfing with ease.
Any race or character can throw creatures if they change their class or use items that increase their Strength.
How To Increase Your Strength Stat
There are items around the world that can grant you the ability to increase at least one of your ability scores. If you beat Auntie Ethel and spare her, she will gift you the ability to increase one of your stats permanently. That is just one example of how you can increase a stat without reclassing.

Should You Use Throw In Combat?
You absolutely should, whenever you can. Throwing a whole character can Prone them and knock them down. Not only will it do damage, but it will stop them from being able to act for one turn.
Throwing a character is better than throwing your weapons because you need your weapons and retrieving them again will waste Movement Points and Actions.
The amount of damage dealt by throwing a creature will depend on the weight of that character. The damage will become Bludgeoning.
There are some items you can get that will increase the damage done by using Throw.
