Summary

  • There's a way to kill Isobel and still save Dammon in Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3.
  • You can simply toss him afar and fast-travel away.
  • He'll eventually appear at his shop in Act 3, even if you kill Isobel for whatever reason.

Baldur's Gate 3 lets you know pretty early that there are consequences to your actions. You learn this in Act 1 itself that the Tieflings are decimated if you do nothing to save the Emerald Grove, or decide to destroy it yourself. If you're not riddled with guilt, you'll surely regret missing out on the best blacksmith in the land, Dammon.

Dammon is important for a couple of reasons. Not only will he help you with some great end-game equipment, but, more importantly, he's also the only guy who can tune Karlach's Infernal Engine heart enough for you to romance her. The only problem is that you need to help him survive through Act 1 and 2.

Dammon Can't Die If You Just Kidnap Him

If all goes well and you defend the Emerald Grove, the Tieflings and Dammon will end up at The Last Light Inn in the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2. However, he will die if you choose to kill Isobel or let her get captured. Whatever your plan may be, it seems there's a workaround to have him survive either way – kidnap him.

As noted by Randomly_Typing76 on Reddit, you can simply fling him somewhere far off. "Use Dammon as an improvised weapon and aim somewhere far," said their post. "Then as you're walking towards wherever you aimed, open the map and teleport to Shar's Palace.

"He won't walk back, since he can't path to his original spot, and you have him in a way more convenient place. For whatever reason, the game makes it so any Tiefling that is still alive by the end of Act 2 just goes to where they usually go, regardless of your choices. So, he'll still be at his shop in Act 3 if you kill Isobel or the Nightsong."

If saving Dammon was stopping you from killing Isobel for whatever reason, you no longer have to worry about it, thanks to this exploit. You can now kill Isobel for whatever evil reasons you may have, and can still get access to his wares in Act 3 of Baldur's Gate 3.
