Summary

  • Larian confirms that the next patch won't add Gortash smooching.
  • Patch 7 will add new evil endings, but settling down with Gortash won't be one of them.
  • Yes, even if you're playing as The Dark Urge.

Almost every character in Baldur's Gate 3 has an army of dedicated fans, ready to defend their every action and love them unconditionally. Gortash is no except. In fact, his fans are probably among the most loyal, pleading with Larian to let them romance the villain and even rule Baldur's Gate by his side.

However, despite the next patch promising new evil endings, it doesn't seem that any of them will let you romance Gortash. This comes directly from Larian, confirming that there will be no kissing between The Dark Urge, commonly referred to as Durge, and their pal Gortash in the next patch.

It's A Bad Day For Gortash Fans

Spoilers for Baldur's Gate 3 ahead.

This desire to smooch Gortash hasn't completely come out of nowhere, as odd as some of us may find it. If you play as The Dark Urge, you learn that you have worked with ol' Gort in the past. Therefore, he's far more familiar with you when you meet him in Act 3, and even appears to suggest that you were more than allies (wink wink) before Orin betrayed you. If true, fans have been hoping that Larian will let them rekindle this relationship, but alas, you're never given the chance,

The closest you can get is agreeing to work with him, which skips his boss fight entirely. However, your new alliance doesn't last long, as the Netherbrain kills him as soon as you try to dominate it together. So you can't even pretend that he and your Durge rode off into the sunset together - either way, he has to die.

Now, Larian has confirmed that Durge won't even be able to kiss their old flame before he kicks the bucket. Poor guy. Still, at least evil players will be able to get up to some more villainy soon, even if they have to find another partner in crime.

The next patch for Baldur's Gate 3 is coming soon, adding the new evil endings as well as mod support. If it's anything like previous patches, then there will probably be a lot more chucked in there too, on top of the features that have already been confirmed.
