Summary

  • Seteth is the "most missable" unique weapon in Baldur's Gate 3, requiring you to leave Shadowheart at your camp and pass a Persuasion check.
  • There seems to be a glitch that prevents the NPC, Ferg Drogher, from showing you Seteth's selection if you browse his wares before passing the Persuasion check.
  • Finding Seteth naturally is incredibly unlikely without specific instructions, as evidenced by the gratitude shown to the Reddit user who shared the steps to obtain the weapon.

Baldur's Gate 3 is absolutely chock-full of secrets, and trying to grab absolutely everything a certain area has to offer is a fool's errand. You will miss items, conversations, weapons, and sometimes even companions, but there are certain things that almost everyone will miss if you're not deliberately seeking them out.

That appears to be the case for a unique greataxe called Seteth, a weapon Baldur's Gate 3 fans have dubbed as the "most missable" unique weapon in the entire game. Reddit user Silver-Scion was the first to give Seteth the title, as they described the exact steps you need to perform is you want to claim Seteth as your own.

For starters, one of the main reasons as to why Seteth is so missable is that it requires you to neglect Shadowheart for a little bit. She's a very well-loved character in the Baldur's Gate 3 community, swiftly becoming the game's most popular romance option at launch and a mainstay in most parties.

If Shadowheart is not in the party, neither am I.

To obtain the greataxe, you actually need to leave Shadowheart at your camp, as the person that sells you the weapon, an NPC named Ferg Drogher in Rivington, won't sell you anything if you have her accompanying you. After that, you need to pass a Persuasion check of 18 to get Drogher to show you his more exotic selection of items, of which Seteth is listed.

However, even if you've followed those instructions to the letter, there's still a chance Seteth won't be there. Silver-Scion explains that there seems to be a glitch that stops Drogher from showing you his full selection of items, and that it triggers if you browse his wares before succeeding in the tricky persuasion check. Kick Shadowheart out of your party, pass the check before looking at Drogher's wares, and you'll find Seteth waiting for you.

Unless you're incredibly lucky, hate Shadowheart, or have some kind of superhuman sixth sense that triangulates the position of unique weapons in Baldur's Gate 3, finding Seteth naturally seems incredibly unlikely. That seems evident by the number of people that thank Silver-Scion in the replies to their Reddit post, with another comment from Reddit user Webevie with over 1k upvotes expressing their amazement that Drogher actually has two sets of wares to begin with.

It's just another example of how deep and intricate Baldur's Gate 3 can be, but we should expect this from a game that managed to foreshadow its biggest twist with a butter knife.
