How To Recruit The Master-At-Arms In Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a largely faithful remake of the 2013 original. You explore the majority of the same locations and take on familiar missions as Edward Kenway, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have anything new to offer. The graphics are better, combat is more impactful, and the act of staking your claim on the West Indies is far more satisfying.
There’s also new crew members to recruit, all with their own distinct backstories, quests, and special abilities which can utterly transform the game’s naval combat. Padre, a priest who is struggling with his faith against a festering case of vengeance, is one such man. Here is how to find him and have him join the Jackdaw in the open world pirate adventure.
Where To Find Padre’s Quest
Padre, described by Edward Kenway as a potential Master-at-Arms, can be found on the small island of Caracol on the east of the World Map (the exact co-ordinates are 919,339) although the mission marker should become available after you reach a certain point in the main story.
It’s a very small island, and Padre can be found a few steps forward and to the right as he cooks a pig roasting on a fire.
Walk towards him and a cutscene will play to start the quest. After telling you about his past and how his people on this island are simply trying to live the simple life, Padre will ask you to inform three villagers spread across the island that the food is ready.
All of these are displayed with obvious green markers, so there is, thankfully, no real searching to do here. Finish Padre’s request and return to him to activate the next step.
How To Eliminate Du Casse’s Men
Your food errands aren’t done just yet though, since Mistress Calverley will demand that her dish is delivered in person. Simply pick the dish up next to Padre and take it up the hill just behind you.
Now head back to Padre, and he will ask you to destroy a nearby group of Du Casse’s soldiers to the East at the co-ordinates 648,348.
If you’ve been there already, it’s easiest to fast travel to Cumberland Bay since you will automatically spawn in the Jackdaw next to the island where De Casse’s ships are located.
Upon arriving on the island, you will notice that multiple British soldiers are busy patrolling the beach, although most of them are in scattered groups of just two or three. Take them out and don’t worry too much about getting caught.
Keep moving inland until you come across a tent being guarded by a handful of pirates. Kill them and read the letter stabbed into a barrel just outside the tent. It reveals that Du Casse’s remaining men plan to attack Padre’s village imminently and take everything he has to offer.
Unfortunately for Kenway, he is far too late to help. Fast travel back to Caracol and you will find Padre praying beneath a giant cross beneath a tree where the once happy villagers are now hanging from.
Now questioning his faith and ready to take revenge, Padre will now join your crew without hesitation.
What Is Padre’s Special Ability?
Once Padre is a part of your crew, he will allow the Jackdaw to perform the Ram Dash, a far more powerful version of the traditional ram that can take out some vessels in a single strike.
This can be performed by holding L1+R1 and has quite a hefty cooldown, so my suggestion is to use it at the start of a deadly battle to gain the advantage. Hit a Man O’ War in the side with a well-placed Ram Dash, and they will be in trouble.
This ability also seems to scale with normal ramming upgrades, so purchase a couple of those and you’ll be unstoppable.
