Ubisoft has announced a brand new Anno game at this year's Ubisoft Forward showcase called Anno 117: Pax Romana, which will focus on the Roman Empire.

Despite being relatively niche, the Anno series is one of Ubisoft's longest running franchises, with seven games released over the span of 25 years. The last game in the series - Anno 1800 - was released all the way back in 2019, and has been receiving various expansions ever since, dragging out the game's life much longer than usual. Now, Ubisoft has decided to announce a completely brand-new game in the series with Anno 117: Pax Romana.

Anno 117 is set a tad bit further in the past than Anno 1800, taking players to the Ancient Roman Empire for the first time, and the furthest back the franchise has ever gone in its entire history. While we didn't get any gameplay from Ubisoft during its recent showcase, we did get a live-action trailer that included a Roman crier, giving away the game's setting.

Anno 117: Pax Romana Is Coming To PC And Consoles In 2025

Unfortunately, we didn't get a specific release date for Anno 117 at Ubisoft's showcase, but we did get confirmation that the game will launch at some point in 2025, and will launch simultaneously for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Fans of the series will know that Anno 1800 was the first game in the title to release on consoles, and it seems like Ubisoft will likely adopt the same approach with the series going forward.

It was a pretty decent showing from Ubisoft this year, with Anno 117: Pax Romana's announcement being one of the highlights. It was a show more focused on already announced titles, but we did get extended gameplay trailers for both Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin's Creed Shadows, showcasing action-packed and stealthy gameplay in both.

We also got a confirmed release window for the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake, though if you were hoping the game would release in the next couple of years, you're going to be sorely disappointed. At least we know it's still alive.
