With the Nintendo Switch's life cycle potentially coming to an end in 2024, gamers have been discussing what the best consoles of all time are, and whether the Switch ranks up there, more than ever. Even though Sega no longer has a dog in the race, there was a time when it and Nintendo were the two leading console creators on the planet. That era of Sega peaked with the Genesis, known as the Mega Drive in other parts of the world, and if you look back fondly on those times, Anicorn has created a line of watches to help you celebrate it.

Reported by VGC, premium watchmaker Anicorn has created three watches based on the console Sega launched in the late 1980s. One based on the Genesis which was released in the US, another modeled after the European Mega Drive, and a third designed to look like the Japanese version of the Mega Drive. The watches will cost $800 each and all three will be available to buy from December 5, 2023.

Owning all three of the Sega watches will be tricky, and not only because it'll cost you close to $2,500. The European and Japanese Mega Drive designs will not be available in North and South America, while the Genesis design will be exclusive to North and South America.

All three of the watch faces have been designed to look exactly like miniature versions of the console's covers, the time visible through a slim window at the top of the face. If you were unaware the Genesis/Mega Drive looked different depending on where you were in the world, you can check out all three designs below. The box the watch comes in will also look like its corresponding console, and each comes with a booklet all about the Genesis/Mega Drive.

This holiday season is shaping up to be a good one for gamers on the hunt for premium gaming gifts. Not only $800 Sega watches, but also Pokemon's new Tiffany collection. Ramping the price points up quite a bit, Tiffany's Pokemon offerings are exclusively made up of pendants, all of which will cost you thousands of dollars. The crown jewel of the collection is a solid gold, diamond-studded Pikachu which costs $31,000.

All three of Anicorn's Sega watches will be available to buy from 9 am EST on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. There hasn't been any indication of exactly how many will be available, but if you want one, I'd act fast just in case. Stock might be limited, and there's a chance they won't be available again once they've sold out.
