If you were one of the many hoping for something insane to come out of the reported Disney hack of 1.1 TB of data, then you may want to temper your expectations. That's because the first thing to allegedly come out of the hacks is a leak for a sequel to 2021's Aliens: Fireteam Elite. And as it stands, the game looks like a significant downgrade from its predecessor.

PostsDetails of the next game began spreading online on Sunday, and include everything from a potential release window to in-game features. They appear to be from an internal presentation, though the exact nature of the document has yet to be revealed. What is clear, though, is that the game is internally going by "Project Macondo," and its gameplay, while tonally similar, will differ pretty significantly from the 2021 release.
Fireteam Elite 2 Will Have Fixed Characters, Plus No Loot Boxes
First and foremost, the game is targeting Q3 of 2025 for a release, which could be anywhere between July and September. As expected, it'll debut on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, and it'll have a "M" rating, which isn't surprising. That said, the game is said to feature a story campaign that can be played with AI or live players, as well as a Horde Mode that's being called "Annihilation Mode."
The leaked documents have also provided information about the game's length, with its campaign targeting at minimum 10 missions for eight hours of play, though "ideally," it'll have 13 missions and last 12 hours. Elsewhere, only 13 weapons and nine enemy types will launch with the game. Meanwhile, there's a chance that Annihilation Mode will have just one arena, but there's potential for between 4-6.
In perhaps the biggest change of pace, the game will have preset characters. Each of those characters will have a signature weapon and unique abilities. For example, the character being called "The Swift" with the callsign Artemis is labeled as a "giant slayer" that has access to throwing axes and "ninja-quick melee strikes." That particular character will exclusively have Dual Pistols as a weapon, and each character in general will have a unique take on preset ability, including traversal and ultimates.
Rounding things out from the documents is information about the game's planned economy. The game will apparently not have any in-game voice chat features, and microtransactions are listed as not "currently planned." There are also references to Gatcha mechanics, of which the documents say neither Gatcha nor Loot Boxes will be included. Advertisements won't be part of the game, though the team hasn't ruled out DLC, like story missions or more maps.
Fans Are Calling The Game A Miss
With the leaks already circulating across social media, fans have had a chance to view them in full and offer their feedback. The resounding majority believe the rumored sequel is a downgrade from what the first game established. "My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined," one fan succinctly wrote on Reddit.
Elsewhere, fans took issue with the listed character abilities, particularly as they relate to the lore of Aliens and in-universe viability. For example, throwing axes against a Xenomorph is a pretty wild thought. "The first game was arcade-y in a sense, but almost everything you could do also worked in-universe to a pretty decent degree. This just seems like a weird pivot away from what worked in the first place in an attempt to "keep things fresh" or whatever," the user wrote.
Only time will tell if this leak actually turns out correct, though it's clear that if it is, then fans will be hoping for a pivot. As for the rest of the Disney hack, at the time of this writing, no other game information has spread. It's likely that this will not be an Insomniac-level leak.
