The Sly Cooper series is one that's synonymous with the history of PlayStation. Between 2002 and 2005, Sucker Punch released a trio of games featuring the devious raccoon for the PS2, each one drawing critical acclaim and a loving audience. In 2013, the series was passed to Sanzaru Games, which created Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time for the PS3; however, the series ended there.

With more time passing since the last game's release, calls have grown louder from fans for Sucker Punch and Sony to reboot the franchise. Unfortunately, the chances of that have always seemed slim, but that feels even more like the case, with recent comments from Sly Cooper designer and Ghost of Tsushima director, Nate Fox, suggesting hardly anybody at the studio would want to make a new Sly game.

Our Hopes And Dreams Of A New Sly Cooper Game Have Once Again Been Dashed

Speaking on the MinnMax YouTube channel, answering 125 rapid-fire questions about Ghost of Yōtei (and other Sucker Punch happenings), Fox was quizzed on what percentage of the studio would say "F**k yeah" if it announced the next game it would be working on was a Sly Cooper Game, and his answer isn't particularly welcome news for those clinging onto hopes of a revival.

"Ten percent," Fox theorizes, adding, "It's been a long time since Sly Cooper came out." The interview then moves on to the next quickfire question, but it's a shot to the heart for fans of the little Raccoon. Last year, PlayStation CEO Herman Hulst confirmed that the company is looking for opportunities to utilize its "Legacy IP", so there is hope; it just might not be Sucker Punch that makes it.

It's been a long time since Sly Cooper came out.

Earlier in the interview, Fox was also reminded of the time Sucker Punch was sent a piece of fan mail, which stated, "If we [Sucker Punch] stop making Sly Cooper games, we might lose business," and was asked to "dunk" on the kid. Fox kindly responded, "Hey, kid who missed us making more Sly Cooper games, I hope you enjoy Ghost of Yōtei."

It's a fascinating insight into the world of Ghost and what it's like to work for Sucker Punch. If you have 12 minutes, we highly recommend watching the rest of the MinnMax video.
