PostsThere are different types of Deviations that you can encounter on your travels. Each type of Deviant has a special ability, and you can utilize them by capturing the Deviant. Some can be captured by chance when you see them floating in the world. Others can be found by completing quests, defeating Deviant bosses, and performing certain activities.
How To Get And Use Deviations
To spot a Deviation, keep an eye out for a floating orb with a creature inside. You'll see a percentage value on it which represents the chances of you successfully capturing the Deviant.
Participate in events, complete quests, solve puzzles, and progress through the story in order to find different Deviations.
Press 'F' to begin your capturing attempt of a Deviation. If you succeed, it will be stored inside your backpack.
You can only utilize the abilities of a Deviation when you place it in an Isolated Securement Unit. This is a structure that you can place on your territory.
The option to build an Isolated Securement Unit can be found under the 'Facilities' tab of your build menu. You will need 20 Metal Scraps, 15 Copper Ingot, and 10 pieces of Glass in order to make one.
You can build multiple Isolated Securement Units to store all your captured Deviations. Pressing 'F' while in front of it will allow you to access the facility and view all the details of a stored Deviant.
There are different types of Deviations. Each type requires different conditions to become active.
How To Activate A Territory Deviation
These types are activated when they have enough energy while in the Isolated Securement Unit. They perform different activities that will improve production and efficiency in your territory.
Some can also collect resources for you to use in crafting on your workbenches.
How To Activate A Combat Deviation
Combat Deviations can be activated by syncing it to your cradle. This is done by interacting with the facility and pressing 'F' or clicking on the 'Sync To Cradle' button in the lower-right corner of the facility menu.
You can have the Deviation perform actions by pressing 'E' anytime the option is available during your journey.
For instance, the first Deviation you get is the Combat Deviant called the Butterfly's Emissary. Pressing 'E' while it is synced to your cradle will allow you to pick whether to have it automatically attack any target or to attack a target of your choice.
Not all Combat Deviations are for attacking. Some will provide you with defense abilities that can save your life against tough enemies.
How To Activate A Gadget Deviation
Gadget Deviants will enable you to craft a special item. Similar to the Territory Deviant, they will activate when they have enough energy.
You can harvest what these Deviants produce at the Isolated Securement Unit, and they will keep producing over time as long as they have energy.
How To Activate A Furniture Deviation
A Furniture Deviation can be placed on your territory like a piece of furniture. You'll be able to use it by interacting with it like you would with a regular piece of furniture.

Your Deviation's performance is determined by its Mood and its Deviant Power.
A Deviant's Mood will affect its crafting speed, gathering speed, and combat performance.
Their Deviant Power will activate or deactivate them. As it performs its abilities, its power will be drained.
You can set the minimum threshold for when your Deviation activates. By default, the threshold is set to have it activated at 30/100 Deviant Power.
You can improve the rate of restoration for your Deviant's Mood and Deviant Power by designing a better Securement Environment for them.
View each Isolated Securement Unit to see what type of conditions your Deviant needs in order to recover faster. Some will require certain colored lights. Others will want music to be playing near them.
When you fulfill the conditions of a Deviant's preferred Securement Environment, you'll see a check mark next to it in the facility menu.
