Posts 10While the remaster is an upgrade in almost every way, including the charming quirks and bugs, there are some things that fans are a bit unhappy about. The original Oblivion featured different variants of weapons and armour. While not very different in terms of stats, they offered a different visual from the base version. Unfortunately, this has not made it into the remaster.
Oblivion Remastered Players Want Variants To Actually Vary
As pointed out by a player on Reddit, the variants look exactly like the base versions. In this case, the Blackwood armour looks exactly like the regular steel armour, while it was notably darker in the original. This seems to be the case with a lot of weapons and armour sets in the remaster. In fact, a lot of black items have overall become lighter.
"I really liked the old Blackwood armor, it looked awesome on a dark elf," said one comment. "Was really disappointed when I saw it." Another said, "I was genuinely bummed when I discovered that the variant weapons (iron, fine iron, etc) all use the EXACT same model."
CloseSome players also pointed out that the game overall is a bit lighter, and this has made its way to the weapons and armour. "The brotherhood shrouded armor looks so much worse in the remaster. I actually loved the dark blackness of the original one, this one is just grey and also a little red," said a player.
It seems the new lighting system in the remaster could be making the things look much lighter. However, it's unclear if this was unintentional,or if the devs just decided to skip the variants.
