Here's what changes when you switch the difficulty settings in Oblivion Remastered.
PostsThere are plenty of pre-made classes to choose from when the time comes, all boosting certain skills and attributes based on your decisions, but you can also create a class completely from scratch, too. If none of the default classes are quite to your liking, here are some options for making a character that can be particularly effective.

- Sneak
- Speechcraft
- Mercantile
- Security
- Illusion
- Restoration
- Conjuration
This is meant to be a very low-key character, one that enjoys jumping into a dungeon, grabbing everything they can without making too much of a fuss inside, and getting out with all the most expensive loot.
This character should have an easy time amassing a small fortune to leverage for whatever purpose they would like, fairly quickly. Getting in and out of those dungeons should be a cinch with this combo, with nearly all of their Major Skills focused on either keeping them out of trouble, or keeping themselves from being the sole focus of that trouble.

- Hand-to-Hand
- Conjuration
- Illusion
- Mysticism
- Restoration
- Light Armor
- Athletics
This custom class is centered around punching people and making friends, that last bit both figuratively and literally. The goal is to be entirely weaponless, relying on hand-to-hand combat for much of your damage, alongside your ability to conjure creatures to fight by your side, and convince enemies to fight alongside you, too.
The focus on Conjuration and Illusion is both critical here, and the Intelligence favored attribute is going to be particularly helpful in the early going, when we're still trying to build up a healthy Magicka pool. The nice thing about this build is that you'll have plenty of space in your inventory; you won't be carrying a weapon, and you'll be wearing light armor.
6 Bows And Buddies

Agility | Intelligence
- Marksman
- Sneak
- Conjuration
- Illusion
- Alteration
- Mysticism
- Light Armor
This class has a similar thought process to the last one, but foregoes fists for a trusty bow. You'll want to maximize your bow's potential here, getting Marksman leveled up as soon as possible, and grabbing a good enchantment for your bow for good measure.

You won't have to throw out so many items anymore.
PostsAn enchantment that would be great for your bow is command; this build is already focused on dealing damage with a bow, conjuring allies and forcing enemies to do your bidding, and if you could skip needing to cast a spell for that last part, it would free up some Magicka for you to use elsewhere.
5 Speed Assassin

Luck | Speed
- Sneak
- Marksman
- Blade
- Security
- Athletics
- Acrobatics
- Light Armor
For those who have an interest in moving fast but staying out of sight and have no use for magic of any kind, this class is built for you. Speed and Sneak are key here, because everything about this build is predicated upon dealing heavy damage to an enemy that doesn't realize you're there.
You can do that with either a dagger or a bow, whichever the situation demands. Either way, you should be able to deal a considerable amount of critical damage each time. This build will struggle in situations where enemies are aware of your presence and you need to take a straight fight, and avoiding those situations as much as possible is important.

- Sneak
- Security
- Illusion
- Alchemy
- Mysticism
This is not an entirely non-violent approach, but it is one that aims to keep you out of an enemy's figurative crosshair more often than not. The focus on Speechcraft, Sneak, and Security will be enough to get you around or through situations without too many incidents.

Put those soul gems to good use.
PostsAnd, for when things truly do go bad, you'll have some other focuses to help back you up. Illusion will help you make some allies, whether they like it or not, while Mysticism can put enemies down through their attacks. Lastly, Alchemy is a fluid option to help back up the rest of them.
3 Only Steel

Strength | Endurance
- Armorer
- Athletics
- Block
- Blunt
- Heavy Armor
- Acrobatics
- Marksman
You might not only be using steel with this build, but the idea is that you certainly never use Magic of any variety. A character with this class sticks to what they know best, that being the weapon in their hands and the armor on their back.
This will be primarily focused on melee, with an emphasis on hitting hard, while also taking some heavy hits themselves, with their Strength and Endurance focus, along with their Block and Heavy Armor skills. They can use a bow as a backup in situations that demand range; just never a spell.
2 Explosive Hands

- Alchemy
- Alteration
- Armorer
- Destruction
- Heavy Armor
- Illusion
- Restoration
Playing a character in melee range does not necessarily mean you need to play that character with a melee weapon; some of the most destructive spells in the game are used exclusively in touch range.
This class is built to have the survivability necessary for fighting in this range, with the focus on Heavy Armor, Restoration, and defensive magic. At the same time, it will be capable of some extreme damage with the destruction spell possibilities.
1 The Witcher

Strength | Intelligence
- Armorer
- Blade
- Alchemy
- Destruction
- Illusion
- Mysticism
- Light Armor
It's difficult to nail every single thing that a Witcher is adept at in the selections that Oblivion Remastered has, but this build is a very good foundation for it. Witchers have a wide variety of talents and strengths attributed to them in the games and books, but aiming for those talents makes for a well-rounded character.
This build can be strong in a wide range of scenarios, and just like a Witcher, you'll need to adapt your strategy to the situation at hand. Armorer, Blade, and Light Armor are going to help you in more or less every scenario, while the Alchemy and Spells are going to apply differently to each situation.
