In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, the problem of an overstocked inventory arises as early as the first hours of the game. You constantly have to choose what to throw away, what to keep, and how to get to the nearest town without regretting the lost loot.

Fortunately, the game has several effective ways to solve this problem. If you make the most of them, you can forget about the weight limit and focus on exploration and combat. Below, we will tell you how to increase carry weight in Oblivion Remastered and finally get rid of this eternal hassle.

How To Increase Carry Weight

To stop worrying about every sword or set of rings you find, you can use one of three methods. Some of them give you a permanent bonus, others are temporary, but each method is useful in various situations.

Invest In Strength

Strength is your main ally in the fight against weight limits. Each additional point invested in Strength gives you five more points to Encumbrance, which directly increases the number of items you can carry at once.

This is especially important for melee fighters who already carry heavy armor and weapons. Increasing Strength is like killing two birds with one stone, because you will not only increase carry weight, but also increase melee damage.

Spells And Potions

If now is not the time to increase your stats, or if you're just overwhelmed and want to get to the nearest merchant, use potions or spells.

  • Potion of Fortify Strength - Temporarily increases Strength, and thus Carry Weight.
  • Potion of Feather - Reduces the weight of all items in the inventory by a certain number of units.
  • Spells - If your character has access to magic or enchanted gear, you can cast the same effects without the need for potions.

These methods give a short-term result, but often save you in situations where every foot counts.

Console Command

If you play on a PC and don't mind a little cheating, or if you find yourself in a situation that really requires it, you can use the console command to increase your carry weight. To do this, open the console and type the following:

  • player.forceav encumbrance -X

X is the amount of Carry Weight you want to add. For example, “player.forceav encumbrance -500” will set your carry weight to 500 units.

It's worth noting that once you use even a single console command, the achievement for that particular save will be disabled.
