Mordite (Mo) is one of many earth elements in No Man’s Sky that is used in crafting, refining, building, upgrading, and even recharging some pieces of equipment. It is commonly found by killing wildlife, mining deposits, plants, and cultivating it. This is one of the earliest resources that you will find after landing on your first planet.

Completing the Atlas Path quest line in No Man's Sky requires investigating the mysterious Atlas species. Who are these would-be red orbed Gods?
PostsOnce acquired, you can then use it to get materials, such as Faecium, which is another valuable material used in different crafting recipes. This guide covers everything there is to know about Mordite in No Man’s Sky, its uses, and some of the ways to obtain it effectively.
How To Get Mordite
The easiest way to acquire Mordite in No Man’s Sky is by killing animals found on various planets. You can also find it as a secondary element by scanning plants, trees, vines, rocks, etc. using your Analysis Visor.
Moreover, there are some marshy biomes where you can find Mordite Mineral Deposits. To find these, you will need to use the Survey Device, which is an upgrade for the Analysis Visor. Once you have found one of these, you will need to deploy Mineral Extractors to easily mine Mordite.
You should also note that using Mineral Extractors is not cheap. It requires a lot of power, which can get a bit annoying in the early game.
Another method that you can use to acquire Mordite in the game is to refine it using other resources. Here is a complete list of all the resources that can be refined into Mordite:
Number of Mordite
How To Refine It
1x Mordite
- 1x Di-hydrogen + 1x Condensed Carbon
- 1x Carbon + 1x Pugneum
2x Mordite
- 3x Faecium
- 1x Condensed Carbon + Pugneum
Lastly, you can also cultivate the Mordite Root. It is a plant which produces a bunch of Mordite in a few hours. Once harvested, you should be able to use it however you want. Since it takes a bit of time to fully grow it, you can visit a planet that has some large animals, and just roam around an area while killing any animals you see. When killed, each large animal should yield around 20 Mordite, which can stack up fairly quickly.
There is also no need to leave your ship, as hunting creatures down using your Multi-tool is slower than using your ship.
