- A few years ago, Tribute Games and Dotemu blessed us with TMNT: Shredder's Revenge.
- That game was one of the best beat 'em ups of all time, and now Tribute is following it up with Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
- As revealed at today's Nintendo Direct, Cosmic Invasion will feature tag team gameplay and 15 playable characters.
Dotemu is once again teaming up with Tribute Games, the team behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, to work on a sidescrolling Marvel beat 'em up - Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
Nintendo might be about to have its all-time biggest showcase next week, where it'll properly reveal the Switch 2 like we've all been waiting for, but that hasn't stopped it from doing the most Nintendo thing ever and holding a last-minute Direct. That Direct was mostly focused on games coming to the original Nintendo Switch throughout 2025.

Now pretty please give us an Odyssey sequel on Nintendo Switch 2.
PostsConsidering how much attention has been put on the Nintendo Switch 2 and all of its big games, that has left many fans wondering what we might even see at today's Direct that would make a showcase worth it. With the Direct having finished, we now know that one of the reveals was for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a new beat 'em up from the Shredder's Revenge team.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion Revealed, Coming Later This Year
During the Nintendo Direct, one of the most surprising announcements of the whole showcase was for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a new sidescrolling beat 'em up from the Shredder's Revenge team at Tribute Games. We got a brief glimpse of Cosmic Invasion's gameplay, which features Marvel characters like Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Storm, Nova, Venom and more.
The Steam page for Marvel Cosmic Invasion has already gone live, and revealed a rather unique mechanic for the genre where players can choose a partner and swap out with them. We can see some of this in action during the trailer, but it does sound like a smart evolution of the mechanics we saw in Shredder's Revenge.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion will feature 15 playable characters, all of whom have styles that are very reminiscent of Marvel vs. Capcom 2. That's absolutely a good thing.
As great as it was to see all of the things that the original Switch has in store for 2025, we can all admit that we're mostly looking forward to seeing what the Switch 2 has for us. We don't have long to wait until we find that out, as the Switch 2 Direct is happening on April 2, with pre-orders for the console rumoured to kick off on that day.
