Nearly two months into the Nintendo Switch 2's lifecycle, and there's a lot to like about the console. Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are absolute delights, and enhancements have turned some already pristine games into even better versions.

Still, it's not like the console doesn't have its faults. For instance, the Game Key Card situation continues to be a massive thorn, with seemingly no remedy in sight. Now, those who've had a Switch 2 since launch are discovering first-hand how abysmal the battery can be, particularly when the console is set to "Sleep" mode.

Hope You Didn't Plan On Picking Up And Playing Another Day

Over on Reddit's dedicated Nintendo Switch sub, "Switch 2 battery drain in sleep is atrocious" is one of the more popular threads, all of it featuring complaints about a battery that can't hold its charge.

Specifically, owners noted how putting the console in "Sleep Mode" will drain the battery at a rather frustrating rate, making the ability to quickly resume a game essentially useless.

"I have the same issue," a user wrote in response. "Auto updates are off, I leave it on airplane mode, no games running, and I have found it dead after 3 days."

Another gamer wrote, "I charged mine last week but didn’t use it after. Got it out of my draw last night to pack for my flight tomorrow, and it was completely dead. Ridiculous!"

Normally, some would chalk it up to a faulty console, but with the number of people also experiencing the same situation, it seems like there's something else wrong that requires an update to not force the battery to drain that quickly.

"This is totally not okay," a user wrote. "I regret purchasing NS2 on release. This is one of the two main reasons I regret getting it, the other one being some games not supporting the resolution."

The rest of the thread is filled with similar complaints. Of course, turning off your console completely is a surefire solution, but also, being forced not to use "Sleep Mode" is quite frustrating.
