The Umbrella is an important tool in Nightingale, as it will allow you to protect yourself from the elements, primarily rain, hail, and heat from the sun. The Umbrella also allows you to glide short distances at the expense of stamina, and it can be a useful way to traverse large open areas.

Your Umbrella will upgrade alongside your other gear in Nightingale, allowing you to travel further distances and provide better protection against the weather. Here's where to find or craft your first Umbrella in the game.

Where To Find An Easy Early Game Umbrella

You can actually find an Umbrella in the game's tutorial.

During the third Realm, the Swamp, climb one of the large towers on the way to the portal. At the top is a chest with an Umbrella inside - this will grant you access to an Umbrella right from the start of the game.

If you missed this, you will have to purchase the recipe for the Umbrella from the Essence Trader in your world, which you can find on your map.

The Umbrella recipe costs 30 Essence Dust, which can be earned by extracting essence from simple items - like stones and fibre - or by killing, harvesting, and otherwise completing tasks in Nightingale.

It's a good idea to harvest plenty of sticks and plant fibre to quickly extract the Essence Dust, allowing you to purchase all of the required crafting stations and other crafting recipes to quickly progress through the game.
